The TF Cup Game by @TravelFeed - Portugal! Cristiano Ronaldo and a lot more good stuff!

June 2018 · 3 min read · Abrantes e Alferrarede

Hi, there!

This is my entry #1 to this exciting TF Cup Game Contest by @TravelFeed :))!

With the World Cup happening, the TravelFeed Team has decided to launch its own competition, and I'm making a post about my homeland, Portugal, one of the countries competing in the World Cup 2018.

Of course, my guess which team will win this year is Portugal, the Euro Champion ;)!

Let me write a bit about my beloved country: Portugal has the best soccer player in the World, Cristiano Ronaldo (yes!), but has also a lot more good stuff!

Portugal is now one of the trendiest destinations of the World, for many reasons. From the wonderful and diverse landscapes to its unique famous sunlight, wonderful beaches, deliiiiicious food, and also the particular welcoming characteristic of the Portuguese.

In fact, Portugal has a privileged location in the world, in a geography of exception and with multiple and multicolored landscapes, from beaches to mountains from the green of the North to the golden dunes of the coast and Alentejo, and the vibrant and warm beaches of Algarve. And many more!

Portugal is a country where eating turns out to be a unique experience, with strong, colorful and aromatic flavors and extraordinary wines, cheeses, bread, sweets, etc.
The famous Portuguese egg tarts and the chicken per-peri are now worldwide known products, and you can taste them practically wherever you happen to be (I've seen them in Bangkok lately, for instance!)

Portugal is an 800 years old country, one of the oldest countries in Europe and in the world, and that can be highlighted by its wonderful architecture and intrepid history.
Being the largest maritime zone of the world, that didn't elapse its dream to be greater, as great as the World that it didn’t even know about.

Portugal discovered new worlds within the World 500 years ago, and, even today, there are great countries that speak Portuguese (Portuguese being the 4th most spoken language of the world), like Brazil, Angola, Mozambique, Cape Verde, St. Tome and Principe, Guinea-Bissau, Macao and East Timor.

Portugal was, and still is, a country of dreamers who invented scales, transits, and maps to map and measure themselves. But is also a new, reinvented, vibrant, and technological country, and with dreamers, doers, inventors and smiling, brave, welcoming and generous people.

Portugal is the homeland of great poets and writers, like Camões, António Lobo Antunes, and Saramago, the Portuguese Literature Nobel awarded writer.

It was always famous for its soccer teams and national selections, being Cristiano Ronaldo (and, before, Luis Figo and the great Eusébio) a Portuguese "ambassador" in the World.

But there are a couple more Portuguese"ambassadors" in the world, eg, the UN President, António Guterres, and Marisa, the magical FADO singer that exhales the Portuguese soul with her voice and feeling. She is also known by the "new" Amália, the late most famous Fado singer of all times.

I end this post with a wonderful fado by Marisa. I know you'll love it!

I hope you all enjoyed my post :)!
