Monkeying Around With Steemians in Batu Caves

March 2018 · 2 min read

Watch this video if you just want to see the video version of this:

I had the best day in the world exploring Batu Caves in Gombak, Selangor, Malaysia with some of the nicest and most fun people I've ever met! And all because of Steemit!

I got to hang out with @joannewong @aaronleang and @macchiata which is lucky for me because all 3 of them are just super awesome. I'm so thankful that they were nice enough to show @macchiata and me around!! THANK YOU!!

The first thing you see when you get to the caves is beautiful tall rocks with palm trees and flowers:

And then the unbelievably huge Murugan statue with 272 stairs behind it (yeah I'm just trusting @aaronleang on this. I would have said 758 stairs just to make it seems impressive, but I guess lying on the blockchain and in general, is bad, hehe).

We had to stop to take pictures together on the steps. Pictures on the stairs are VERY important (Actually, we stopped because we are out of shape and tired...but too embarrassed to admit it. So, taking pictures is a good cover, right?!? No one will ever know that we're tired already hehe).

I'm not looking at the camera because I got distracted by the best surprise ever...

...the place has a TON of monkeys everywhere!! I've always loved monkeys, even though they're jerks, but never had the chance to touch one before. Here, they come up to you and touch you if you have food for them!

I'm sorry this monkey was being inappropriate and didn't cover himself. He really needs pants. What can I say, monkeys really don't have good manners.

Here's another monkey that needs manners. He stole peanuts from me, which is rude. He owes me 6 Ringgit (Malaysian $$$):

I came for the caves, but I think the rude monkeys ended up being my favorite part. Their hands feel like little human baby hands. Is it so bad to just want to hold hands with a monkey?
