In this post I'm still in Vietnam. Our destination today is Mui Ne in Phan Thiet. It took about 5 hours from Ho Chi Minh. We stopped at Ta Cu Mountain on the way.
Ta Cu Mountain
Ta Cu Mountain is located in Thuan Nam Town, Binh Thuan Province in the south of Vietnam and southeast of Phan Thiet. This mountain is full ofbeautiful scenery, surrounded by lush green forest and the biggest reclining Buddha in Vietnam. There are two ways to go up the mountain - climb more than 1,000 steps, or ride the cable car. Of course, we took the cable car because it's faster and we wanted to be able to see the magnificent landscape. After we left the cable car, we walked up some stone stairs to the top.
We found the three large Buddhist statues, Amitabha Buddha, the Goddess of Mercy, and Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva. They represent the past, the present, and the future.
I'd like to show you the beautiful view behind the red brick roofed pagoda. You can see the long coast, roads, and houses. Everything looks very small like toys.
We walked further up the mountain to admire the white reclining Buddha statue. This statue is 11 meters tall and 49 meters long making it one of the biggest statues in Southeast Asia. It was built in 1962 and finished 4 years later. The local people and Buddhist pilgrims usually come to worship for good luck.

There are big reclining Buddha statues in Thailand too, Wat Pho, Wat Lokayasutharam, but both are smaller than this one. I want to praise the people who built it so high up in the mountains.
