"Cheow Larn Dam" The Guilin of Thailand

Surat Thani Province

Surat Thani Province is located in the south of Thailand and has many beautiful sightseeing spots such as Tao Island, Pangan Island, and Khao Sok National Park. This trip I'd like to show the beauty of Cheow Larn Dam, also called The Guilin of Thailand. It is a famous place in Surat Thani.

Cheow Larn Dam or Ratchaprapa Dam

Cheow Larn Dam is located in Khao Sok National Park and was constructed for flood control, irrigation, and fishing. This dam is about 60 Kilometers from Surat Thani Airport or an hour and a half. There is a long-tail boat rental for traveling around the dam but I recommend spending one night here. Most hotels are rafting houses. You can feel free to get up close with nature.

When you purchase an accommodation package it will includ pick up service from the port to the resort roundtrip, and there is also a pick up service from the airport for an extra cost. On the way to the resort, you'll see the breathtaking view of limestone mountains reflected in the clear blue water. Our boat driver stopped at some beautiful spots for us to take photos.

After took the boat for about an hour, we finally arrived at the resort.

Wow!

So cool!

The rafting houses are so cute surrounded by water and mountains. A room can hold about 2-3 people and each room has stairs directly to the water and a canoe. Inside the room aren't many amenities, just a fan. If you want to use the electricity to charge your phone, you can plug it in at the restaurant on the corner.

We took the boat to see the sea of mist in the morning.

Look at this! The water is clear as glass. I can see so many fish swimming.

The package costs (1 night 2 days) 2,890 baht per person. I think it is worth it. This package included round trip pick up service to/from the port, sightseeing spots as mentioned in the package, 3 meals, national park entrance fee, insurance for the resort, and activities.

How To Get The Cheow Larn Dam

Take the public bus from the Surat Thani Airport to Ratchaprapa Dam port about an hour. The bus fee is 200 baht/person. And then the resort's staff will pick you up there.

Even if you don't have a private car you can use public transportation comfortably. This place is indeed great for relaxing. I highly recommend it.
