Cycling Tour Of Kamikawa Town In Hyogo, Japan

May 2021 · 2 min read · Japan

In autumn last year, my friends invited me to participate in a day trip to Hyogo. I didn't even know where we were going, but I said yes without thinking twice! lol My friend, Rung, said we would ride bicycles for about 20 kilometers. Not a problem for me, I can do it. Let's go!

Kamikawa Town is a small town located in Hyogo Prefecture, Japan. It is a quiet town with beautiful mountain views. It was once used in a scene from the movie Norwegian Wood. It's about two hours to Kamikawa Town by car.

Before starting your cycling tour, please contact the staff at the information office and pay the bicycle rental fee of about 1,000 JPY.

The staff gave us bicycle keys, key holders as a memento, and a short briefing.

The starting point is not here, we have to get the bus up to the mountain in about 20-30 minutes. If you have your own bicycle, you have to bring it with you on the bus. The driver informed everyone about important places the bus drove through.

Shinden Furasato Mura is the starting point. We rode down the mountain along a canal, past a waterfall, rice fields, and local Japanese houses. My friend said there were a lot of chestnut trees. We decided to find some chestnuts.

Unfortunately, it seemed we came too late, as we couldn't find any. While we were looking for chestnuts, a beautiful local elderly woman gave us some chestnuts that she had picked. We were lucky!!
