Enjoying A Strawberry Picking Experience And Beautiful View Of Plum Flowers

March 2020 · 2 min read · Nara Prefecture

Hello everyone,

Nara is well known with Japanese and tourists for ancient temples and deer in the parks, but fruit picking is a fun activity also available here.

Do you like strawberries?

I'll take you to Asuka City in Nara prefecture, about an hour drive from Osaka. It is my second time here. Strawberry season starts in early January and goes to the end of May. About February to May, and especially the middle of February to end of March is the best time. The strawberries are soft and sweet.

Do you like trawberries?

There are many strawberry farms in Nara and each farm has a different owner. If you come on the weekend or holidays you should make a reservation before coming. I recommend Matsubara Noen, the owners are very friendly.

Let's go!!

After you pay the entrance fee, the owner will give you scissors and a plastic bag. Enjoy all you can eat in 30 minutes.

** The discount coupon is 100 JPY per person. Just show it before you pay the entrance fee. I've attached a link below.

After we finished picking, we headed to Tsukigase Onsen, about an hour away, to see the plum flowers. We heard they had started blooming already. This year the plum flower festival runs from February 16th to March 30th.

Even through the plum season had just started, some trees were in full bloom already. I have some picture to share, hope you like them.
