April 2020 · 6 min read · Jazan Region

Good morning people of the world! I'm wishing you all the best inspite and despite of all the circumstances that happen in our way.

It's not new to our ears on what we heard about the coronavirus19 originated from Wuhan China. The pandemic quickly spreading to the whole world. One of those countries is my homeland Philippines which is a neighboring country of China.

Since I'm not living in my country now, I would like to share the story of coronavirus19 in my work place Sabya, Jizan, Saudi Arabia.

How it started here?

We heard the news on social media about how it affected Italy after Wuhan China. Then, we heard spreading the pandemic in Spain. As I observed, the Saudi government quickly implementing temporary lockdown at the end of February when there were Saudi national got symptoms after visiting foreign land specifically in China. I thought it was a business trip. I'm not sure what had happened next after that news, I don't know they survived or whatever. What I knew before that government implemented the early vacation.

There was no casualty but they did an exact move. International and domestic airport is well monitored. Anyway, the government was already well equipped since the time we encountered the mers-cov virus which was originated in Saudi Arabia according to the news before.

It was just a partial lockdown, but the Ministry of Health was sending an alert message to all our mobile phone numbers in Arabic with English translation. Only the students and teachers were staying at home. Businesses were normally opened during the first week of March.

Death of my Mother last March 2, 2020.

I was devastated upon the news. I decided to go home for the respect of my mother but when we were about to process my re-entry visa, the government has warned us that there will be a possibility of total lockdown and all flights will be halted. I could go but coming back will be critical. It will depend on how the pandemic people's survival and safety. It was a very sad story that ever happened. I didn't able to go home and stay safe. I knew my mother understands me.

Total lockdown in all places

The number of positive in covid19 is increasing every day. The Ramadan month is coming next month. It is the biggest expectation around the Muslim world to have a pilgrim in Mecca, a Holyland Makkah Al Mukaramah. It is the Holy land of all Muslims. Millions of pilgrimage yearly but in 2020, there is no one allowed to come this time. Since March, the Holy is temporarily close and only some residence are allowed to perform prayer inside but no one can go near to the black stone. Police are cordoning the place. For the safe of the people they stopped giving visa.

Social life halted!

The government is imposing curfew hours from 7:00 pm to 6:00 am Saudi time. No one is allowed to go outside at night time. The offender we will be fined with 10 thousand Saudi Riyal. ( 2500 USD approximately). There are people who ignored and was really paying the penalty. There is an additional imprisonment too.

Social distancing

implementation. Some banks are using online transaction but there are banks that are open most especially in my workplace. Yesterday I remitted my money back home and so amazed by the cleanliness of the bank. Sanitizing, washing the floor and misting were done. There is a mark on the floor where to keep your distance from one another.

On the other side

Since the beginning of lockdown, for the first time within 22 years of staying with my employer, I saw them praying together. The mosque nearby is closed and no one is allowed to go to the mosque everywhere. My employer is the **Muadhin** the one who call the prayer and the **Imam**- the one who leads the prayer. This time, he leads the prayer with his entire family.

At night, they are all awake and happily playing games with their children. Before they were so addicted, everyone was busy with their mobile phone. But now, they feel boring with the mobile phone. They found another alternatives that they used playing together away from internet and social media.

I went on the rooftop and found the busy street night before, now is empty and no one is walking. No cars running and just park in front of their respective houses.

Yesterday's update.

I found on the Facebook page about the situation of all the casualties updates. Here in my place, Jizan it remained 2 positive since then and there is no additional. Riyadh City has the most covid19 positive patient and Jeddah, the second-largest city has the second number of positive patients.

At this moment, I am too busy in my household chores and cooking. Before , they bought ready to eat food most of the time. I was just cooking basically the food for lunchtime. But now, I cooked every food they want.

When I go outside throwing the garbage, I look like a ninja. I must wear facemask and gloves with matching sunglasses.

Turning point of view.

There is a reason why it happened and I believe, God will heal the world and the people. There will be a huge benefits to the whole world. The mother earth is crying for the abuses of the people to the natural resources.

The people are sick mentally. They forgot the one who created the universe. They make money and influence their priority against people. Today is the time to repent, to love and forgive. Prayer that came from the bottom of our heart could be powerful against this pandemic.

Don't be sad, this is not an ordinary virus, it is a plague-like what had happened in the Bible and Quran. We could learn a lot of things after all and God will be giving us another chance if people will give a good response on it. This is just a plain message to us. It's up to you how would you deal with the circumstances. Pick a lesson to all the happening to the world today and make a better tomorrow.

There are people who died naturally. Covid19 is not the only reason people die. Recently, 8 people died while the airplane was on the runway. No one in this world who will never die. We just need to be ready when God will take away our borrowed life.
