Trip to South America no. 57 Bolivia - Cal Orco

Right next to Sucre is located National Cement Factory, where cement was produced from the nearby limestone for many years. For a long time, no one paid special attention to the fact that fine-ground sedimentary rock was formed some 68 million years ago during the Maastrichtian Age of the Upper Cretaceous period. They simply grinded the rock, until suddenly, after removing another layer of rock, the eyes of the employees of the National Cement Factory saw something interesting.

Tuż koło Sucre znajduje się Narodowa Fabryka Cementu, w której przez liczne lata z pobliskich skał wapiennych produkowano cement. Przez długi czas nikt nie przykładał szczególnej uwagi do tego, że skała osadowa mielona na drobny pył powstała jakieś 68 milionów lat temu w epoce mastrychtu w okresie górnej kredy. Po prostu mielili skałę, aż do czasu, gdy nagle po zdjęciu kolejnej warstwy skały oczom pracowników Narodowej Fabryki Cementu ukazało się coś ciekawego.

Cal Orco - a kilometer long and over 100m high wall with about 5000 dinosaur prints. The wall is a wall, although it used to be a floor on which dinosaurs ran, but nowhere else than here you can clearly see the power of time and tectonic movements because what used to be a flat beach has turned and now stands at an angle of 72 degrees.

Cal Orco - długa na kilometr i wysoka na ponad 100m ściana, na której znajduje się ok 5000 odcisków dinozaurów. Ściana jest ścianą choć kiedyś była podłogą po której biegały dinozaury ale nigdzie indziej jak właśnie tu dobrze widać potęgę działania czasu i ruchów górotwórczych bo coś co kiedyś było płaską plażą uległo obrotowi i obecnie stoi pod kątem 72 stopni.

The wall is unique on a global scale, because although there are similar walking paths of dinosaurs all over the world, also in Poland, there are not so many of them anywhere else, so many species have not been identified anywhere else, and there are not many traces of them so well preserved.

Ściana jest unikalna na skale światową, bo mimo, że podobne ścieżki spacerowe dinozaurów znajduje się na całym świecie, także i w Polsce, to jednak nigdzie indziej nie jest ich aż tak dużo, nigdzie indziej nie identyfikowano tak wielu gatunków, a także nie często ślady są tak dobrze zachowane.
