Trip to South America no. 89 Ecuador – Quito

We have already left Ecuador and safely reached Colombia, to the border town of Ipiales, but I have a feeling that we still need to return to Ecuador with our relationship for a while.
We owe it to him, because in previous posts we didn't praise the country too much, and maybe you could feel a bit of a complaining, but nothing could be more wrong! The arrival in Ecuador turned out to be salutary for us! A breath of normality after almost 2 months spent in abnormal Bolivia and overrated Peru.
First contact with a new country and surprise! We get American dollars from the ATM! Wow nice feeling to have dollars in your pocket! Finally, you do not have to pay two thousand something for bread, as is the case in most South American countries, only everything can be bought for "un dollar". The first Ecuadorian city we stop in is Cuenca, which is on the UNESCO list. Due to the beautiful architecture and the cathedral, referring a bit to Notre Dame, we call them Latin Paris for a short period of time.

Wyjechaliśmy już z Ekwadoru i bezpiecznie dotarliśmy do Kolumbii do przygranicznej miejscowości Ipiales, ale mam poczucie, że potrzebne jest jeszcze wrócenie z nasza relacją na chwile do Ekwadoru.
Jesteśmy mu to winni, ponieważ w poprzednich postach nie za bardzo chwaliliśmy ten kraj, a być może dało się wyczuć trochę narzekania, a przecież nic bardziej mylnego! Przyjazd do Ekwadoru okazał się dla nas zbawienny! Powiew normalności po niemal 2 miesiącach spędzonych w nienormalnej Boliwii i przereklamowanym Peru.
Pierwszy kontakt z nowym krajem i zaskoczenie! Z bankomatu dostajemy amerykańskie dolary! Wow miłe uczucie mieć dolary w kieszeni! Wreszcie nie trzeba za chleb płacić dwa tysiące czegoś tam, jak ma to miejsce w większości krajów ameryki południowej, tylko wszystko można kupić za "un dolar". Pierwsze ekwadorskie miasto, w którym się zatrzymujemy to wpisana na listę UNESCO Cuenca. Z uwagi na piękną architekturę i katedrę nawiązująca troche do Notre Dame roboczo nazywamy je latynoskim Paryżem.

We visit more cities and shock! In each of them there are trash cans on the streets! It is a real rarity in this part of the world. You must know that a banana slate eaten in the north of Chile could be carried with you as far as Ecuador, because you will not find a garbage can anywhere on the way, everything ends up on the street, but not in Ecuador, when it comes to ecology, it is much, much better, though not perfect. The roads between the main cities are much better than in other countries, and the drivers seem to be a little more careful.
Quito - the capital of the country, also included in the UNESCO list, no longer impresses as much as Cuenca, but nevertheless, in terms of architecture, it places it in the TOP5 of South America.
And what's most interesting in all this, if we look for Ecuador on the list of countries by GDP per person, we will find them far behind other countries in the neighborhood somewhere between Sant Vincent and Kosovo, so the greater honor and glory of Ecuadorian resourcefulness.

Zwiedzamy kolejne miasta no i szok! W każdym z nich na ulicach są kosze na śmieci! To prawdziwa rzadkość w tej części świata. Trzeba wam wiedzieć, że łupkę banana zjedzonego na północy Chile można by nosić ze sobą aż do Ekwadoru, bo nigdzie po drodze nie znajdziecie kosza na śmieci, wszystko ląduje na ulicy, ale nie w Ekwadorze tu w kwestii ekologii jest dużo, dużo lepiej, choć nie idealnie. Drogi pomiędzy głównymi miastami są o niebo lepsze niż w innych krajach, a i kierowcy zdają się być trochę bardziej ostrożni.
Quito - stolica kraju, też wpisana na listę UNESCO, już nie zachwyca tak bardzo jak Cuenca, ale mimo to pod względem architektury lokuje je w TOP5 Ameryki Południowej.
I co najciekawsze w tym wszystkim, jeśli poszukamy Ekwadoru na liście krajów według PKB na osobę to znajdziemy je daleko w tyle za innymj krajami z sąsiedztwa gdzieś pomiędzy Sant Vincent, a Kosowem, więc tym większa cześć i chwała ekwadorskiej zaradności.

We have eaten countless fruits here and all of them, except bananas, cannot be found in Poland. Maybe Granadilla can still be found in large stores, but its prices in Poland are dizzying. About such fruits as: passion fruit, yellow pitaya, red pitaya, babaco or sachets, without the use of an encyclopedia, they would be completely foreign names for us.

Owoce zjedliśmy ich tutaj niezliczone ilości i wszystkich ich, poza bananami, nie da się znaleźć w Polsce. Może jeszcze Granadilla jest do odszukania w dużym sklepach, ale jej ceny w Polsce są zawrotne. O takich owocach jak: męczennica, pitaja żółta, pitaja czerwona, babaco, czy flaszowiec, bez użycia encyklopedii byłyby dla nas kompletnie obcymi nazwami.

We could still say a lot of good, but it is enough that, considering the ratio of the time we spent in a given country to its size, Ecuador is the undisputed first place and it is no coincidence, we simply felt very good there.

Dużo dobrego moglibyśmy mówić jeszcze, ale wystarczy fakt, że biorąc stosunek czasu jaki spędziliśmy w danym kraju, do jego wielkości Ekwador zajmuje niekwestionowane pierwsze miejsce i to wcale nie przypadek, po prostu było nam tam bardzo dobrze.
