Today I will show you with some photos and a description of False Bay in South Africa.

I have posted a great number of posts about nature in the bay and thank you to all of those that said we live in a paradise. The area is surrounded by mountains with an open side that leads into the ocean.
Of course at times the open ocean side exposes us to some very unruly weather, but we simply batten down the hatches and allow it to pass by,
My idea today was to get to a favorite high place and to show you the southern rim of the False Bay basin.
Come, let's have a look!

"Hey ma come and look, the mountain is gone"! Hahaha, a full cloud cover on the mountain here!

Right! Here we are at the high spot and I will now take a series of shots along the edge of the southern horizon of the bay until the mountains run into the sea!

In the background you can see a line across the side of the mountains and it's a mountain pass!

Approaching the ocean now and the entire False Bay inland area consists of a mixed use of farms, urban and rural dwellings and the coast stretches from a place called Rooi Els at this end to the Simons Town at the other end.

This is the Gordon's Bay and Strand area that are very popular with tourists!

The high buildings here are at the Strand beach and in season the beach is packed with visitors!

Now we are here looking at the other end of False Bay that runs towards the Simons Town end.

The point of the mountains there at Simons Town is about 30 kilometers away!

Now I know that a map and some more information is needed for a clearer understanding of this popular paradise and I have included for you here below!

"False Bay"
"False Bay is a body of water in the Atlantic Ocean between the mountainous Cape Peninsula and the Hottentots Holland Mountains in the extreme south-west of South Africa. The mouth of the bay faces south and is demarcated by Cape Point to the west and Cape Hangklip to the east. The north side of the bay is the low-lying Cape Flats. Much of the bay is on the coast of the City of Cape Town, and it includes part of the Table Mountain National Park Marine Protected Area and the whole of the Helderberg Marine Protected Area.
False Bay also contains South Africa's largest naval base at Simon's Town (historically a base for the Royal Navy), and small fishing harbours at Kalk Bay and Gordon's Bay"
