Hi there my Steemian friends and followers!
I don´t want to overwhelm you with my Azores content (no matter how overwhelming the beauty of these Portuguese island is) so let´s take a little break today and head out to a different place.
In 2015, one of my nomadic missions took me to Vilnius, the capital city of Lithuania. I think I was there in early April, which obviously wasn´t the best time to visit this part of Europe as the weather was just terrible - it was raining or snowing almost every day, it was freezing cold, the sky was overcast and it was just dark pretty almost all the time. There were, however, some brief sunny moments too and it was during one of them that I got to see and capture this impressive piece of architecture.
Situated in the Old Town of Vilnius, this monumental building is called The Church of St. Anne and it is considered one of the greatest examples of Gothic architecture in Vilnius as well as all Lithuania. Built in the late 15t century, the church is easily recognizable by its characteristic red coloration and those 3 dominant towers. As a matter of fact, it was because of this prominent church that the Vilnius Old Town was added to the list of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
How about you, my Steemian fellows, do you also have any examples of this interesting red brick architectural style in your countries? Let me know in the comment section below and feel free to share photos with such buildings ;)
