Colorful Photography: amazingly vivid Mexican street art in Playa del Carmen

As a part of my entry for today´s #colourfulphotography contest hosted by @juliank, I decided to take you on a little tour around some of the most beautiful street art works we have in here in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

Most of the street arts featured in this post can be found on the Fifth Avenue (La Quinta Avenida), which is the most famous street / boulevard of the city where thousands of tourists hang around every day all year round. Now you may wonder how come the street is full of great graffiti pieces when there is no place for the artists to create them.

The reason is simple. The Fifth Avenue is indeed by far the busiest and most crowded street in Playa but only at a certain section of its total length of 5.2 km (3.2 mi). The crazy part of the avenue starts next to the main harbor in the very center of the town and it ends somewhere at the 50th Street. If you keep walking beyond that point, the street gets more and more tranquil until you find yourself almost entirely alone. And that is where you will start noticing these amazing street arts created by local graffiti artists on walls and houses on both sides of the street.

The themes of the street art vary greatly but you can often find local motifs there, referring to the famous ancient Mayan history and culture or the wildlife and nature typical of the area.

There are dozens (if not hundreds) of astonishing street art works on the Fifth Avenue and other parts of Playa but I do not want to overwhelm you so here is just a little collection of some of the best pieces that have drawn my attention during my recent strolls through the city.

Jako soutěžní příspěvek do dnešního #colourfulphotography contest jsem si připravil malou „ochutnávku“ street artu, který je k vidění v ulicích našeho města Playa del Carmen. Vím, že tady v české komunitě máme pár příznivců tohoto druhu umění, tak snad se jim to bude líbit :)

Většina z těchto dílek se nachází na hlavním bulváru Páté Avenue, která je v centru města každý den narvaná korzujícími turisty, ale stačí popojít pár kilometrů směrem z centra a rázem jste na téže ulici téměř sami. A právě v této odlehlé části můžete na tato zajímavá dílka narazit.

Náměty jsou různé, ale často se zde opakují motivy odkazující na slavnou mayskou historii a kulturu nebo na krásu místní krajiny.

Ještě si na závěr dovolím přidat jedno malé doporučení členům, kteří také občas postují cestovatelský obsah. Všiml jsem si, že většina z vás stále používá tag #travel, který je dlouhodobě zahlcený a pro normálního smrtelníka je téměř nemožné se tam dostat do „hot“, natož „trending“. Jako zajímavou alternativu v tomto případě proto doporučuji tag #travelfeed patřící stejnojmennému projektu, který na Steemitu před časem založila skupina cestovatelů v čele s mým kamarádem, zkušeným cestovatelem a skvělým fotografem @jpphotography.

Travelfeed je kurátorský projekt, který všechny posty s tagem #travelfeed denně prochází a 5 nejlepších postů dne odměňuje upvotem, resteemem a kurátorským trailem momentálně čítajícím zhruba 50 upvotů ostatních členů. @jpphotography se navíc pro tento projekt včera podařilo vyjednat významnou podporu jedné velryby, takže kvalita a výše odměn této kurátorské služby by měla do budoucna ještě stoupat. Tak to příště zkuste, třeba budete mít štěstí ;) Jedinou zásadní podmínkou je, aby byl váš post napsaný (i) v angličtině a měl minimálně 250 slov.
