Golden Hour: captivating sunset over Ponta Delgada downtown

January 2020 · 3 min read · Ponta Delgada (São José)

Hi there my Steemian friends and followers!

I hope you have been enjoying the beautiful pump that our beloved crypto has been through since yesterday :) Keep up this great momentum, Steem!

As usually, it is my pleasure to brighten up the rest of your weekend with another sunset photo.

I took this shot just a couple of days ago while walking along the promenade here in Ponta Delgada, the capital city of the Sao Miguel Island as well as the entire Azorean archipelago. The image captures a part of the local marina and the downtown.

Home to almost 70,000 people, Ponta Delgada is the only place on the islands where you can feel some kind of the city vibe. I know that for people from some really large metropolises this place would sound like a tiny coastal village but all of the other "major towns" of the Azore islands have a population of only a few thousand people (or even less) so Ponta Delgada is actually by far the most urban place that you can visit here.

I am known to prefer remote, natural places to cities but here on the Azores, it is very inconvenient to live in the countryside if you don´t have a car (and we don´t :D) so we decided to relocate to Ponta Delaga. We just happened to be offered a great AirBnb deal here for one month so we grabbed it. We are also going to make some exciting trips to some other parts of the island where we haven´t been yet and I cannot wait to get some nice fresh photo material for my future episodes of the Beauties of Azores series ;) The next one is coming on Tuesday so stay tuned!

Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone and have a great start to the new week tomorrow!
