Hi there my Steemian friends and followers!
As usually, another Sunday means another sunset photo for you here on my blog ;) Just like with most of my previous contributions to this series from the past weeks, we will stay on the Azore island of Sao Miguel but instead of the majestic volcanic cliffs and the raw beauty of local nature, I am going to use the city as the backdrop this time.
We just relocated from the rural northwestern part of the island down to the southern coast which is much more built-up as there are many towns and villages located along the coastline. We are going to spend our first days here in Ponta Delgada, the capital city of the island, and that is also where I took the photo.
Home to approximately 70,000 people, Ponta Delgada is by far the largest town of the Azore Islands. With its origins dating back to around 1450, it is a beautiful coastal town that can boast of many pieces of impressive architecture and a nice harbor.
Originally, I wanted to take a picture of the sun setting right into the Atlantic Ocean but I could´t find a suitable spot for it as most of the places with this view were located in other parts of the town so instead, I headed out to the harbor and snapped a few shots of the silhouettes of the boats against the golden sky lit up by the last sun rays of the day. I think this one turned out pretty good :)
Enjoy the rest of your weekend everyone and have a great start to the new week tomorrow!
