Armadillo baby, living an experience as a nature photographer

I was in the Fraijanes area, on the slopes of the Poás volcano, Costa Rica. After a heavy rain I went for a walk with my camera. Soon I found a small group of baby armadillos. At first I took some photos from a great distance, but little by little I slowly and quietly approached until I was practically next to them. There I noticed, that they ignored my presence, they are practically blind and with the wind against them they could not smell me. I dedicated myself to observe them, while they were digging the ground with their legs in search of food, sometimes they jumped and ran as a game, it was a magical moment. So I continued for about five minutes, until a sudden movement of my foot gave the alert voice and the armadillo babies ran quickly to hide among the bushes.

I have very few photos of that moment, this is the one I like the most, I simply dedicated myself to observing them, I found it fascinating that they had allowed me to be so close to them, I did not want to miss the moment taking many photos. Sometimes I think the camera distracts us from enjoying the beautiful moments of life. Many times, we get beautiful images, but sometimes without remembering the sensations that this magical moment gave us.

I think the best advice for a photographer is to connect first with his environment, observe it carefully, live it and appreciate all the details and sensations that it causes in oneself, and then create images that transmit those sensations and feelings, so that the people who observe our work, may have a better approach to that special moment.

Well, you can not miss some biological information of this species.
Nine-banded armadillo (Dasypus novemcinctus), is related to anteaters and sloths. In Costa Rica he lives in dry, humid forests, wooded savannas, forests and coffee plantations, throughout the country. It is an armored mammal with activity both day and night elusive and shy, which is guided by smell and its acute sense of hearing.
