Playa el Carmen belongs to the group of beaches located on the Nicoya peninsula, known worldwide for being one of the best places to surf in Costa Rica and the world.
To get there, you must travel from San José to the port of Puntarenas, from there you take a ferry that crosses the Gulf of Nicoya until you reach the town of Paquera. From this point, you must drive for an hour to the city of Cóbano and there take a detour of half an hour to reach the destination.
You can also travel by air, taking a plane from the Juan Santamaría airport to the small airport at Playa Tambor and from here, rent a car or travel by bus.
Playa el Carmen is a relaxed white sand beach right in the middle of other important beaches such as Mal País, Santa Tereresa and Manzanillo, which can be easily accessed by walking along the beach, especially at low tide.
Traveling to Playa del Carmen should be something that every traveler visiting Costa Rica in search of adventure should write down in their travel agenda.

Para llegar se debe viajar desde San José hasta el puerto de Puntarenas, desde ahí se toma un Ferry que atraviesa por el Golfo de Nicoya hasta llegar a la localidad de Paquera. Apartir de este punto se debe conducir por una hora hasta la ciudad de Cóbano y ahí tomar un desvío de media hora hasta llegar al destino. También se puede viajar vía aérea, tomando una avioneta desde el aeropuerto Juan Santamaría hasta el pequeño aeropuerto de playa tambor y desde aquí, alquilar un auto o viajar en autobús.
Playa el Carmen es una playa destensa de arenas blancas justo en medio de otras playas importantes como Mal País, Santa Tereresa y Manzanillo, a las cuales se puede acceder fácilmente caminando por la playa, especialmente cuando hay marea baja.
Su oleaje es un poco más calmo que el de sus playas vecinas, por lo que es un buen lugar para iaprender a surf. Además, se pueden realizar otras actividades como paseos a caballo, caminatas hacia ríos y cascadas entre otros. Existen muchos servicios de hospedaje y alimentación, no así, la presencia de grandes desarrollos hoteleros.
Viajar a playa del Carmen debe ser algo que todo viajero que visite Costa Rica en busca de aventura debe anotar en su agenda de viaje.
