Bojnice Castle is clearly one of the most beautiful castles in Slovakia. The outside looks like a fabulously romantic impression. I imagine kings walking around the castle with queens at their sides. Young princesses run with their friends through the castle gardens. And the princes on horseback with a bow in hand go hunting in the surrounding mountains. You can feel the joy of life everywhere. This is how I imagine the local life, looking at this beautiful castle. And how was it really?

The first written mention of the castle is from 1113. Originally a wooden castle stood on the castle hill. During its long existence, the castle changed several owners. The castle belonged, for example, to Matúš Čák of Trenčín, whether the Zápoľský troops managed to seize it. The Turz family gave the castle a significantly different look. They rebuilt it into a comfortable Renaissance castle. Later, the Pálfi family rebuilt it in the Baroque style. Its last aristocratic owner, Count Ján František Pálfi, decided to convert it into a romantic castle. The reconstruction lasted 22 years and since then the castle has its current appearance. The paradox is that Count Pálfi was an old bachelor and had no one to share this romantic beauty with.

The interior of the castle does not lag behind the exterior. The rooms are decorated and feature period furniture.

There is also a chapel in the castle.

At present, the castle has one inhabitant. The team is this roe deer. I took a picture of him resting in the castle moat. Locals say they come here to graze from a nearby forest.

There are wooden houses by the castle. It is a craft town where traders present their crafts and their products to visitors.

The most beautiful view of the city is from the nearby lookout tower. We could not miss the view of the whole valley, so we visited this view.

Bojnice is a small but very nice town that is worth visiting. In addition to the zoo and the romantic castle, there is also a spa. We didn't have time to stop in them, maybe sometime next time.

well thank you
