Salgó Castle and Fiľakovo

Salgó Castle and Fiľakovo

August 2020 · 2 min read · Salgótarján

Our stay in Fiľakovo is coming to an end, so we use the last hours in this region and get in the car. We cross the Slovak-Hungarian state border and head to the parking lot below Salgó Castle.

We get out of the car and follow the sign that leads us to the castle. The ascent is steeper, which indicates that we are close.

After entering through the ruins of the castle walls, we take a short break. The company makes us one of the inhabitants of the castle. A green lizard that warms itself on warm stones.

We continue up to the repaired tower. From it we have a beautiful view of the surroundings.

We also see Šomoška Castle, which we visited the previous day.

We loved the view and slowly descend the other way to the parking lot. This time we're going through the park.

We return to Fiľakov. Although we stayed here for a few days, we did not have time to walk around the city. So let's go after him now.

Our steps are directed towards the manor house, which is currently used as a school.

We walk around the Franciscan church and monastery. Unfortunately, it is locked so we can only see it from the outside.

Fiľakovo has another manor house. However, this is in a much worse condition than the previous one.

We end the city tour in the old mansion. It is currently the property of a civic association.

Our trip is coming to an end. We ate in a restaurant under the castle and we each go our own way. I'm going to the train station, from where I'm going home by train.

Well thank you
