In August 2017, my pal @danielw and I have spent 8 days in the saddle, traveling the total of 541 km while exploring the wonderful Dalmatia region. The town, briefly described below, is only one of the amazing destinations we have managed to visit during our tour.

Our vision

We are working hard on the knowledge base for travelers from all around the world (especially bikers). We will be delivering content that is both informative and entertaining. That includes (but is not limited to) handy tips on: how to service your bike and what tools to use, what to take with you on your trip, how to find free/cheap accommodation and washing facilities, what to eat during the trip to keep up the pace, where to cross country borders etc.

We are committed to making this our full time jobs and since we are passionate about it, we believe we can build a strong community behind our vision.

If you like to find out more and support us in our mission, you can go to our projects page on Fundition.io and/or check the latest project update.

Omiš

Omiš is located in Central Dalmatia, where the Cetina river meets the Adratic Sea, and it is surrounded with Mosor mountain range. This makes it not only a wonderful tourist destination but also a great deal for hikers, cyclists and water sports enthusiasts. The old town is full of narrow lanes filled with restaurants and homemade food & drink stores.

Directions

Take state road D8 south/north from Rijeka to Dubrovnik and drive until you reach Blato na Cetini interchange. Omiš is located approximately 45 km from Trogir, 25 km from Split and 40 km from Makarska.

Camping

Camping is available at Beachville and Galeb campsites, or if you're looking for something a little bit further away from the town, at Camping Miroslav, Duće and Autocamp Sirena, Lokva Rogoznica.

I personally spent a night at the last-mentioned one, which was situated on a steep hill with a wonderful view on the Adriatic Sea and the Mosor mountain range. I must also say, that the staff was really friendly and helpful.

Fun fact: There was an area within the campsite called Guvno, which in Polish language, literally means s*it! Apparently the staff was aware of it, since a lot of Poles come to Croatia every summer.

Activities

Omiš is a vibrant area with many bars, pubs and restaurants - I definitely recommend spending the night out, when it's a bit chiller. During the day, besides cycling and hiking, you can have some fun ziplining, rafting and obviously boating, swimming and snorkeling.

History of Omiš

Between the XII and the XIV century, Omiš was known as a pirates dwelling, who stroke fear among all sailors. The urban legend has it, that Omiš is where the piracy was born.
