Die Reise in den Osten der deutschen Republik, so schön sie auch war, musste einmal enden. So will ich Euch heute von dem letzten Tag im schönen Sachsenland berichten.

Eigentlich wollten wir ja an diesem letzten Tag Dresden einen Besuch abstatten. Aber dort herrschte gerade "Bombenstimmung", lauteten doch die Nachrichten aus der schönen Stadt: - Weltkriegsbombe gefunden - Entschärfung gescheitert - wird kontrolliert geprengt - Sprengung fehlgeschlagen, Dämmmaterial brennt - Bombe zu heiss, muss abkühlen - niemand weiss, wie es weitergeht - usw.

Das Ganze hat zirka 48 Stunden gedauert und Verkehrschaos in und um die Stadt mit sich gebracht. So kam es, dass wir uns entschlossen, den Besuch der tollen Stadt auf unseren nächsten Besuch in Sachsen zu verlegen und uns, auf Anraten von @homeartpictures nach Meißen auf den Weg machten und die schöne Porzellan-Stadt stattdessen besichtigten.

Die Nacht davor hatten wir noch auf diesen schönen, einsamen Platz an der "Blauen Adria" in der Oberlausitz verbracht.

The journey to the east of the German Republic, beautiful as it was, had to end once. So I want to tell you today about the last day in beautiful Sachsenland.

Actually we wanted to visit Dresden on this last day. But the news from the beautiful city that day was: - World War II bomb found - defusing failed - controlled blasting - blasting failed, insulation material burns - bomb too hot, has to cool down - nobody knows what to do - etc.

The whole thing took about 48 hours and caused traffic chaos in and around the city. So we decided to reschedule our visit to that great city for our next visit to Saxony and, on the advice of @homeartpictures, set off for Meissen and visited the beautiful porcelain city instead.

We spent the night before in this beautiful, lonely place on the "Blue Adriatic" in Upper Lusatia.

Der Wohnmobilstellplatz liegt direkt an der Elbe. Ist man hier bei den ersten, kann man einen schönen Platz direkt entlang dem Wasser ergattern. Wir waren nicht so flink, was aber nichts ausmachte, da wir sowieso keine Übernachtung eingeplant hatten und am Abend in Richtung Heimat, mit Zwischenstopp in Gotha, aufbrechen wollten. Der Platz diente uns demnach nur als Parkplatz während der Stadtbesichtigung.

Letztere begannen wir gleich mit dem (sportlichen) Aufstieg zur Burg. Meine Frau meinte unterwegs mehrmals, man sollte hier einen Fahrstuhl installieren. Oben angekommen, sahen wir, dass es tatsächlich einen solchen gibt. Ich freute mich heimlich über den kleinen Aufstieg zu Fuss, liess es mir aber lieber nicht anmerken.

Wie auch immer, die Anstrengung hatte sich gelohnt, denn hier fanden wir hinter der Burg den schönen Dom und den dazugehörenden Domplatz, gesäumt von schönen alten, aber liebevoll restorierten Gebäuden. Überhaupt fiel uns die Farbenfreude beim Gestalten der Häuser in Meißen auf.

The camper site is located directly on the Elbe. If you are one of the first, you can get a nice place right along the water. We weren't that quick, which didn't matter, as we hadn't planned to stay overnight anyway and wanted to leave for home in the evening, with a stopover in Gotha. The place served us therefore only as parking lot during the city sightseeing.

The latter we started immediately with the (sporty) ascent to the castle. My wife said several times on the way that an elevator should be installed here. When we got to the top, we saw that there really was one. I was secretly happy about the small ascent on foot, but preferred not to let it show me.

Anyway, the effort was worth it, because behind the castle we found the beautiful cathedral and the corresponding cathedral square, lined by beautiful old but lovingly restored buildings. In general, we noticed the joy of colour when designing the houses in Meissen.

Der Abstieg in Richtung Stadtzentrum fand auf der gegenüberliegenden Seite statt. Hier fanden wir ausser den gewohnt schönen Häusern eine ganz tolle Aussicht über die Dächer der Stadt.

The descent towards the city centre took place on the opposite side. Here, apart from the usual beautiful houses, we found a very nice view over the roofs of the city.

Auch das Stadtzentrum fanden wir in exquisiter Schönheit vor. Die farbenprächtigen Häuser erinnern fast an ein Märchenbuch. Ich glaube nicht, dass ich inmitten von Häusern schon einmal so viele Fotos auf einmal gemacht habe. Immer wieder boten sich schöne Blickwinkel mit neuen tollen Fotomotiven, seien es die liebevoll restorierten Fassaden, die Pferdekutsche, der Marktstand oder die kleinen Details, die das Auge und dann das Objektiv magisch anzogen.

We also found the city centre in exquisite beauty. The colourful houses are almost like a book of fairy tales. I don't think I've ever taken so many photos in the middle of houses at once. Again and again there were beautiful viewing angles with new great photo motifs, be it the lovingly restored facades, the horse-drawn carriage, the market stall or the small details that magically attracted the eye and then the lens.

An den raren Stellen, wo die Renovierer noch nicht angekommen waren, kann man noch einige Spuren von vergangenen Zeiten entdecken.

Diese Warnung nahmen wir auf jeden Fall ernst und liessen uns auf der zum Schild gehörenden Terrasse nieder, um, zwar keinen Schnaps, dafür aber ein kühles Bier, zu uns zu nehmen.

We took this warning seriously in any case and sat down on the terrace belonging to the sign in order to have a cool beer rather than a schnapps.

Auch der Weg zurück zum Parkplatz an der Elbe führte durch ansprechende Stadtteile.

Am Ende waren wir uns einig: Meißen, eine Stadt, die wir vorher nur vom Namen her und wegen dem "Meißener Porzellan" kannten, wird uns nicht zum letzten Mal gesehen haben.

The way back to the rv park on the Elbe also led through attractive districts.

In the end we agreed: Meissen, a city that we knew only by name and because of the "Meissen porcelain", will not have seen us for the last time.
