Hello Steemians! Good day. First time to use a Partiko for my Steemit post and currently admiring how you can earn points while upvoting and commenting! Also this posts are for my Steemit friends who wants to visit the Ph, sooner! I'll hope this will guide you in your trip here!
1. Most of the Filipino are English-Speakers
Yes, we can communicate and undesrtand English in any way possible. Kidding. Most of us here can actually understand you if you are an English Speaker native. You won't have a hard time in asking directions or just having a good conversation among the people. Our alphabets were borrowed from the English alphabet and most of the brands here like in food, medicine, signages and even our constitution are written in English.
2. Manila isn't the only place to Visit
Just like any countries, there's more places to visit than the capital city. I can attest to that, and whenever you are in Philippines try to visit a lot of places like Palawan, Cebu and Cagayan!
You'll never regret it, I promise.
3. Warm in Foreigners and Guests
If you wander around the Philippines, don't be shocked when people are smiling at you even if you are just a stranger and very hospitable at you. It's actually a good thing and people here are very good in guests if the guests is good too (hehe). I have a quite of theory about it why but the thing is smile and greet them, it'll make their day! ❤
4. Mostly Catholics
Since we were invaded by the Spaniards for 333 years it just reflects on why 90% of us are Roman Catholics. This also relates on how we are very sensitive about the topic on religion and related things like the divorce and why isn't it has passed it yet in the law, etc. I commend that whenever you have other affliations, respect is the key for everyone not just for Filipinos.
5. Foods are signifiers of warm welcome
When you happen to visit a house in the Philippines however small or large it is they'll have you to invite on a meal. And it's a thing here in the Philipines. It's actually considered rude if you won't invite people to share your food while eating but in a hidden context of it, it's just for hospitality and it's up to you if you'll eat or not. But mostly, people refuse to eat a meal when invited especially when you see that the person has a limited food only but fiestas in the barrios or gatherings everyone is invited to it! No exceptions!
6. It is relatively cheap here

I cannot really say it's cheap since I am living here and most of us here are striving to have a living. But, with researchs and the thing called currency your pounds/euros/dollar can go far here in Ph. A 1 British Pound is more than my allowance for a day which compose of snacks, transporation and other fees. The donuts for 1 dozen is 4-5 US DOLLARS!
I am sure you'll make the best out of it here in Ph!
