Background

This is the first episode of a short Hawaii travelogue. I hope you will find this series interesting to read.

We do not have direct flights between Hong Kong and Hawaii. The shortest route is to hop on a HKG> TPE flight and then move onto a connecting TPE > HNL flight. You can choose China Airlines or Hawaiian Airlines. Be sure to check timetables before buying your ticket; not sufficient traffic to give rise to daily flights.

香港和夏威夷之間沒有直飛航班。最短路線是搭乘HKG> TPE航班，然後轉入連接TPE> HNL航班。您可以選擇中華航空或夏威夷航空。購買機票前務必檢查時間表;因為沒有足夠的流量來支持每日航班。

Arriving

After some 13 hours of waiting at HKG, changing planes at TPE, customs clearance and collecting luggage at HNL, Honolulu was at fingertips. Honolulu is on O'ahu, one of the Hawaiian islands. O'ahu is much commercialised and offers most tourist activities. Unless you want to explore less commericalised islands, clinging yourself to O'ahu is good enough.

Lodging

If you love a unique family lodging experience, Disney resort and spa, located at the tip of Ko Olina Park, can be an ideal choice. The resort is self-sufficent, you can enjoy pool parties, the beach, shopping, spa, snorkelling, outdoors movies, island adventures or golf at the resort.

The resort is some 40 minutes away from Waikiki and less hustle and bustle than major shopping spots over Waikiki. That being said, there is a tradeoff - driving back and forth if you want to immerse yourself to the hustle and bustle of the most busiset district of the island.

Four Seasons, Marriott's and Ko Olina beach resort sitting side by side with Disney resorts, if Disney is not your cup of tea but still want a relatively quiet hideaway, you might choose those three competitions. * For Four Seasons fans, facilities at Lani or Hualalai may be better than those of Ko Olina. :-)
