Wednesday Walk at Botanical park

Hello dear all! it is my next Wednesday Walk for the fun photo challenge hold by @tattoodjay, which I try to enter as frequent as possible. This weekend we went to St.Petersburg Botanical garden, located at Popova street, Petrogradskaya storona. I bring back quite a small amount of pics (as if i spent 1 film roll). Half of my harvest I shared yesterday in my 'autumn mood' 'post. Here are the rest, they are focused a bit more on side-seeing and less on amazing beauty of the nature. But still.

Images taken by Canon 5d +Sigma 150mm, .raw editing applied.

I nailed this pair on the way from Tube station to the park. Boy or girl? While shooting, I thought she was a girl, but now I am not so sure (clickable, check the hi-res).

The overseer cat was the 1st I saw when the ticket mission was completed and we crossed the entrance line. First things first, as the proverb says.

And then our family kinda split up (alas). The child was naughty, and I was not able to thoughtfully shoot the macro, or anything else. We just ran through the park, thats why I have got so few photos. But I still, I've got some cream.

The park has beautiful alpine hills.
For the record: it has a Japanese garden, sakuras and pions, two greenhouses: tropical plants and cacti for each, "the ever-blooming garden" (my fave part of this park, I visited in in April and created a detailed report), also theres a dendrarium, a lot of alleys, small bridges, ponds, and a playground. A beautiful place for a family leizure day, really.

...and this is 'the trash'. The inevitable "leave-us-some-of-your-money-and-buy-what-you-dont-need" tables arise wherever parents with small children walk. As you probably already know, no one parent can resist the children's "Maaam, buy it to meeeeee!" (I can do this, by the way).

wed_2341.JPG

...but exploring and taking pics of such tables is a real pleasure. Archeology of trash.

Close-up. This time, it is glass figurines. Not the kind of the toys you'd buy for your little babies...

The pond in the Japanese section has a bronze statue of a fairy-tale character -- The Frog Princess. It was located far away, and the children could not see it in detail. My telephoto lens helped ... and I was left with a photograph for the report

:)

Leaves. I was focused mostly on the leaves and the colour spectre of the Autumn.

I took a few pics of wilted plants... came out not very well, I had no time to make doubles :/

And then in one of the crocuses (yes! there exist such a thing, like crocuses in full bloom in late October!) I met a sleeping bee. It was very picturesque, all covered with pollen. I had no tripod, no macro-rail, also no time... and I was in a hurry... probably I fucked up this opportunity to make a great macro shot.

I did a few takes in a rush, and then moved the flower a few times, positioning it for a better angle of view... and -- surprise! -- the bee woke up, squinted displeased at me, and flew away!

...leaving me with an empty crocus, of which I nevertheless immediately took a picture -- do not lose the good!
I really love these saffron stamens -- do confess, if you love them too? Generally, orange is my favorite color...

wed_2366.JPG

Then I run into a rose garden section. Oh, I forgot to enlist it. yes, of course, roses are present here, too. I entered it with idea of taking a quick pic of someone smelling a rose, and run away asap. Haha, I did it! The proofpic is below. Unfortunately, the person who is smelling the roses and fulfilling my plan, was immediately blocked by someone else. I decided not to be a sitting duck, and left having only one inappropriate picture. Fair reportage play, no dozen takes!

...and, I was rewarded with this gem. No more comments for this one. Shot in one take, no doubles.

Uh, ok, at least +1 comment: the park with all the alleys and benches is ideal location for together walks with your beloved ones. And unstoppable, inexhaustible, diverse flower fountains at almost any time of the year is the perfect location for getting at ease some 'artsy' selfies, or for a high-quality professional photoshoot session with a model.

These are probably of less intrest for non-local residents...
On the way back, I found this nice 'LETI' sticker on the Park fence. Theres a famouse St.Petersburg university located just next to the park, and this sticker says 'I am LETI alumnus'. One of the alumnus left it in the place. A nice touch to me. (Isnt that named #eyebombing?..)

Being a designer and having a solid font obsession, I always look around at the signboards, stores displays, all this stuff. More precisely to say -- I look more closely when I see a beautiful and worthy copy. This time I noticed two amazing designs. 1st one is an ad for some Georgian cuisine -- great lettering, isnt it?
