Having Lunch at Kedonganan Fish Market, Jimbaran

August 2020 · 3 min read · Bali

Having lunch at Kedonganan Fish Market of Jimbaran ini Bali was not my first experience to enjoy seafood in a fish market.

When traveling to Sydney, Australia three years ago, I and my friend, Bambang, enjoying our breakfast in Sydney Fish Market. We woke up early to catch the fish market and enjoy our breakfast there. I show you pictures when I was in Sydney Fish Market.

I was enjoying lobsters. I confess that the seafood in Sydney Fish Market are absolutely fresh. We were so tempting, and enjoying our luxury breakfast.

I also have ever had lunch in Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo, Japan. It was so wonderful memories. The fish market is the biggest one in Tokyo. I was so grateful to have been able to visit this popular destination. And for sure, I enjoyed sushi.

Kedonganan Fish Market of Jimbaran, Bali

You know, after visiting Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park and also enjoyed Barong Keris Dance and other attraction there, we were heading to Kedonganan Fish Market in Jimbaran. We were going to have lunch there.

This traditional fish market is so famous. It has been a tourism destination in Bali since it sells fresh seafood. Not only local people who visit this market, but also domestic and international tourists. They come to the fish market to buy fresh fishes. The price of fishes is very good. It’s only IDR 30,000 to IDR 60,000 per kg.

Upon arriving there, I enter immediately into the fish market. I could see a lot of fishes sold in the market. I even don’t know the name of fishes. I like a kind of fish called Kakaktua. It has bluish green color. It looked so delicious to grill. I bought 1 kg of it.

I milled around the fish market to find other kinds of fishes. I like this traditional fish market. It’s quite clean and no bad odor.

The fishes are absolutely fresh. The fisherman catch them and sold to the market.

And here some more pictures of the fresh fishes.

After buying the fishes, we could carrying them to restaurants which are located close to the fish market. And we could ask them to cook or grill our fishes. We just pay for them about IDR 15,000 per kg of fishes to cook or grill them. It’s so simple and cheap, isnt it?

We decided to enter a restaurant, which is only a stone’s throw from the fish market.

We had them cook and grill our fishes, shrimps and some other seafoods.
