Meranti, A Popular Brand of Roll Cake in Medan

December 2020 · 2 min read · City of Medan

When we talk about souvenirs from Medan, North Sumatra, Meranti roll cake can be the first choice. Why not, the Meranti Roll Cake is very popular and it has become one of the icons of the city of Medan. Meranti roll cake has many variants of flavor, the pineapple variant is what I like the most. Besides pineapple taste, there are also mocca, cheese and strawberry flavors. We mah order what we like most.

A few weeks ago, when my family and I visited Medan, we bought five boxes of Meranti Roll Cake at the Meranti branch on Ring Road st. Meranti on Ring Road Street is the new branch of this typical Medan cake. It was easy to reach, since it is not so far from our hotel.

When I bought the rolls, there were only a few customers waiting for their orders to be prepared. The way to buy this meranti cake product is to order in advance at the receptionist at the front desk.

Then, we go to the cashier counter to pay for our order. After we pay, the staff in the room will prepare the Meranti Roll Cake that we have ordered, then they pack them very well. The whole process takes about 15 minutes. Frankly, their service is so wonderful.

In the past, the only souvenirs from Medan were Bika Ambon. But now, Meranti Roll Cake has become a popular choice for souvenirs from Medan City. But, Bika Ambon is also still in the heart of food lovers.

If you travel to Medan City of North Sumatra Province, I think you have to buy some Meranti Roll Cake as well. You know, the cake is so delicious.
