Nasi Uduk, One of Street Food in Bireuen Town

December 2020 · 2 min read · Aceh

Few days ago, my friend and I tried street in Bireuen Town. The street food is “Nasi Uduk”. It’s located in front of Suzuya Mall. It’s was the first time for us to try this Nasi Uduk. It was really late at night. I ordered Nasi Uduk with fried catfishes. It looked so delicious. Eating Nasi Uduk here reminded me the Nasi Uduk in Palembang, South Sumatra Province. When I was studying internal medicine there, I was often eating the most delicious Nasi Uduk which is located at Veteran Street.

I ordered two catfishes. They were well fried. Catfishes are famous here, they are the most ordered menu. I also like to eat this fish. I remember, when I was a child, I caught the fish in the rice field. Thirty years ago we could easily find the catfishes in the rice field, not like today.

We are ordered fried tofu and “tempe”. They were also well fried. “Tempe” and tofu are made from fermented soybeans. These are traditional food in Indonesia, and are famous in Java island. Tempe is also quite famous in Aceh province within these two decades.

We also ordered iced orange juices. The juice was good. I ordered the juice without sugar. So, the taste was original. I really love orange juice. It has a lot of vitamin C, that can boost up or immunity level.

So that night, we really enjoyed the street food. The night was a bit cold, and the rain just stopped pouring the town.

After finishing our supper, we went to The Coffee Beans Shop to sip a cup of espresso.
