Hello.
I'm traveler @rbaggo

Let me introduce a special day in Greenland. Luckily, there was a national holiday in Greenland when I visited. It was June 21st in 2016 when I visited.

I happened to get a national holiday schedule from the kayaking office. There were many events scheduled.

First, the first event to raise the Greenland flag at City Hall starts at 8 a.m., and then we walk together to the church near the coast, worship at 9 a.m. and start.

After that, the next event took place on the coast where I learned kayaking. It was the first game to go out to sea by kayaking and hunt seals.

It was over very quickly, perhaps as usual. For your information, seal meat is often eaten in Greenland. I'll introduce how was the taste in the next episode.

After that, I went to a museum near the coast. There's usually an entrance fee, but today is a national holiday, it's free!

The first thing I noticed as soon as I came in was the dog sled. It's a very important means of transport in the snowy winter. Wolves driving sleds are trained to follow only their owners, so approaching to them is dangerous.

There was a family tree of 'Knud Rasmussen', a great explorer who crossed northern Greenland on a dog sled, and it showed his family came from Greenland, Denmark, the Netherlands and Norway long time ago.

I can also see the traditional Greenlandic costumes at the museum. Clothes and shoes have colorful patterns.

Also, there were a lot of different styles.

Local people wear traditional costumes like this on national holidays. In fact, it's hard to see that local wearing traditional shoes. I could see if I was lucky.

Today's video is the Greenland traditional polka dance.

All members dance together and then two or three dance according to the song. It was impressive to see them stamping their feet to the rhythm and dancing together as a group.
