I arrived by the ship through a port (near the aquarium) where dotted lines on the map were connected. It took about 1 hour and 15 minutes to get there by ship. I marked the route I traveled to.

The first thing I did was to buy food at the supermarket. In Iceland, the mart closes at 6 p.m. relatively early, so you have to shop early. Fortunately, there are both Bounus and Kronan, cheap marts in the Vestman Islands. The hours of operation are slightly different, but they usually run until 6 p.m.

After that, I circled whole night almost till 4 am.

*The camping site is located at 11 o'clock. I think the coast was about 17 USD per night, but I slept in an outdoor field.

As you can't see, Vestman Island is an island located on the map at 7 o'clock. I can ride from 'Landeyjahöfn', which is close to a port called 'Þorlákshöfn', and it's not only more expensive to ride from afar, but it took a long time to travel, so I didn't see anyone coming by ship from there. I don't even know if they're actually worked.

As I told you earlier, as soon as I arrived at the island, I asked for directions and arrived at Bonus mart, where the pink pig is familiar. I had to get some food before closing the door. I went to a restaurant once on the way and looked over the menu, and it was over 12 USD for a sandwich and a drink... :O

To make matters worse, Bonus mart was already 8 p.m.

Fortunately, there was Kronan nearby. Kronan is also cheap, but the bonus mart is a little bit cheaper. Bonus Market's policy is that if the items were more expensive than other marts, the items will be discounted for an additional week. So even the bonuses and the products produced by Cronan are about 1 kronet (0.01 USD) different in price competition.

The first place I went with food was looking for a good place to put my backpack and luggage in. In northern Europe, such as Iceland, Greenland, Norway, and Sweden, outdoor camping is more generous than in other countries.

The important thing about camping that I've always emphasized in my travels, is in the middle of nowhere. The two biggest reasons.

  1. To prevent theft of strength, a tent is installed in an invisible place to reduce the probability of damage.
  2. This is to prevent fines that are imposed without knowing.

The fines are different for each local government and country, and it is difficult to understand them. The best way is to use the campsite, but there's a risk of theft. Iceland is a very safe country with relatively no theft, but I think it is good to be careful in advance.

The view here was so good that I was setting up a tent nearby. It was 8:30 p.m. But the atmosphere was weird I felt, so I looked around, and realized there is an old church next to me, and it seemed to be used as a museum. Then the visitors will pass by and see my tent in the corner of the neighborhood. So I looked for another place.

When I came to the location of No. 2 on the map, I found a lava zone made of solid lava. The stone here was so rough that it didn't look good to set up a tent. It was relatively close to the residential area, but the topography was high, so it was good to look down at the village. As I walked a little further, I saw a very big crater in front of me.

In between, there was a field of rare human beings. I set up a tent on the flat field, put my luggage in, and sealed the entrance with two locks.

Wow, it was such a beautiful place. It was a schedule that wasn't originally planned, and I regretted that I decided to stay for just one day and bought a ship ticket in advance when I was on a trip and got to know it through Google Maps.

But I couldn't stay in one place because I had a lot of places to go in Iceland for 14 days. So I decided to stay up all night and look around the island. Usually, Icelandic tourists pass by without going to this nice place, but I was lucky to be here.

It's a crater called 'Eldfell', no. 3 on the map. It's very large.

Iceland had big eruption in 1973. At that time many flight plans were canceled.

I started climbing the crater and almost reached the top about two hours later. This is a picture of Eldfell looking at Helgafell (No.4), the crater next to it.

On the back side of the sea, lava flows down, and volcanic ash piles up and covers the ground black.

The couples came and sat there looking at this beautiful place, and I was so jealous and grumpy, so I was picking on them and giving them a hint. lol lol lol.

Be envious, take a picture by yourself.

Shall we go to the small crater next to it? When you go down the mountain, the dirt is soft, so the soles of your shoes can be flat and slippery than you expect. You have to be careful when going down.

Especially, this crater (No.4) was very steep, so it was hard to climb, but the sun was setting at midnight. This is the summer in Iceland. Isn't it bright?

This is the airport behind the small crater. I liked the color of the sky and the sea because it was so pretty.

In fact, when I climbed this place, there were about five Americans or Australians who were ahead of me. They suddenly turned around and came up through a blind spot and seemed to have pulled a wooden stick from the fence of a nearby farm.

By the way, they started to go to the center of the crater and dig up the black earth and stone? I watched they checked if the temperature was hot. XD.

Did you, guys bring a wooden stick for it? Hahaha

Camping is all the more enjoyable with primitive labor and wild power.... Finally, I went around the island once and came back at 2 a.m., and I was so hungry that I decided to wrap the sausage and pickled spicy seasoned garlic with cooking foil and cook them over the fire.

Cooking with a new glass bottle!

It's a good idea, but I don't think carrying a glass bottle is very useful in terms of weight and volume. And there's a problem because it's hard to put on the fire. To do that, we have to make the furnace fit the size of the furnace, and it's so hard and difficult to make it burn with fire, but it was Romance that was so far from reality to make a barbecue by leaning against each other at an angle from the trees that we used to see in the movies. Besides, if you make such a big fire, somebody think the field is on fire...!!

When there are no cooking tools such as stove and pot, the best way is to use cooking foil. Just like you're grilling potatoes, wrap them in layers of cooking foil and put them in the fire. The caution is that you must place the fire well so as not to kill it. If you put it on the fire, the oxygen will be cut off and the embers will be completely extinguished.

In fact, it was windy, so was hard to make food. But I made a fire in two hours and grilled sausages and garlic.
