but you will never be free like me

Hello.
I'm traveler @rbaggo
who is finding 'Humanism' in
'Capitalism'

Today's story is the 'Blue Lagoon' spa trip, a popular tourist destination in Iceland. There is good spa and hotel in Blue Lagoon. For staying at hotel, must make a reservation.

I was going to visit and stay there in the afternoon before going to the airport.

Instead of taking the 'Grey Line' or 'Fly Bus' from a large travel agency, the bus to Blue Lagoonrequested a pickup from a company called 'Bus Travel'.

Reykavik(capital) - The Blue Lagoon(red point) section was normally 2,500 ISK(19 USD), while Bus Travel was 1,500 ISK(11 USD).

apart from this

  • The Grey line, Fly bus from a large travel agency,
    Lycavik(capital) - Blue Lagoon(spa) - Keflavik (airport): 4,000 ISK
  • Bus Travel, a small travel agency, said, 'Laykavik (capital) - Blue Lagoon (spa) : 2,500 ISK.'

I was providing a service.

After enjoying the spa in Blue Lagoon, I had to go and stay at the airport for one night, so I had a lot of time, and I was going to walk to see the northern light, what I didn't see.

As I was riding the bus, the sulfur smell was getting stronger and it seemed that Blue Lagoon was almost there. As the entrance began to be visible, there were vehicles from numerous travel agencies in the parking lot, proving popular destinations.

Blue Lagoon had a fixed entrance time and available time. As far as I remember, about two hours were available, and my entrance time was around 8 p.m., the last hour. But just in case, I said, "I came two hours early at six," and the staff gladly said, "You can come in."

And I only bought basic admission tickets. Usually, tickets were divided into 3 categories when you buy them.

  • Basic entry
  • Basic entry + gown + towel
  • Basic entry + gown + towel + personal spa + drink etc.

The problem was the size of locker. My backpack was 45+5 liters, stretched with emergency food. But based on my experience at 'Aqua Adventure Waterpark' in Dubai, I pulled out all the stuff in my bag and organized it one by one, and it went in.

This is the shower room in Blue Lagoon. It's essential to wash thoroughly before entering the Blue Lagoon. Shampoo + rinse and conditioner were also. Blue Lagoon water contains lime, so your hair gets stiff when you go in and out. So many people told me not to soak my hair in water.

Now let's go in!

At first, I wondered why I borrowed a gown. Wow... it took less than 15 steps to get inside the Blue Lagoon to the spa pool, and the cold winter winds rolled around. It was really cold... I looked at the gowns, and people wore them outside and hung them on hangers before they went into the pool. By the way, people only used gown for it(20 seconds).

I didn't think people know which gown were they wore and they could exchange it between. So I came back to changing room. There was a staff member nearby changing room to clean up. As the employee stared at me and turned away for a moment, I picked up a gown that was taken off. Well, it's just one time that the people who took a shower wore it and took it off.

It was warm and very nice to wear a gown. If you don't have a gown, you can bring a large towel and cover it before entering Ragoon. There was hanger and people left it there.

going in. I was looking forward to it.

You can buy drinks or alcohol from a small bar across the bridge and enjoyed it while taking an open bath, holding wine glasses.

There's something special about this place. It's called silica mud. The information board says you can scoop the mud through the cracks in the trees and spread it on your face, and wash it off after 30 minutes to 1 hour.

I was not sure if my skin has really gotten better. The day I went was when it was raining heavily. It was nice to see the sun shining suddenly clear.

Blue Lagoon was not very warm, but if you find the hole where hot water came out of a certain place with a circular wooden board, which was much better because it was so warm.

At night, it's even more moody and nice. But there's a deadline, so you just have to pay attention to that part.

I came back in a gown that I didn't know if it was originally picked up or changed with someone else outside, took a shower, came to the changing room and stood in front of the mirror. I still had a silica mud left in my ear. You have to wash it clean.

You can return the electronic bracelet, you use to enter and purchase food at the ticket gate.

At the end of the way out, had to pass the Silica Mud cosmetics store to buy the product. After applying the mud, my skin seemed to have gotten smoother and it wasn't bad.

I walked down the street eating stir-fried noodles based on soy sauce that I made, because I was hungry. I didn't see northern light during my 10-day trip in Iceland. Well.. the reason was that it's annoying to go out every time and look up at the sky and wait... It was because I enjoyed spending time with local people.

Do you remember the Chinese friends who gave me a ride last time?

They actually asked me to come with them when they were going to the northeast of Iceland. By the way, I was just going to spend time with local people and had couchsurfing in Reykjavik, So I refused.

He sent me a nice northern light picture he took after this trip. It made me really envied him... Well, I haven't traveled properly to Canada and Russia yet, so I'm sure I'll see each other someday.

Actually, I had a plan to stay night at the airport, for that I had to take a flight the next morning, and I couldn't see northern light, so I was going to look up to the sky from Blue Lagoon to Keflavik Airport while I walk about 3~4 hours.

When I started to walk, 2 guys just stood their car in front of me and was forced to hitchhiking for a ride. These guys, Hudson and Lan, came to Iceland, didn't decide where to go and stay.

Anyway, they were on their way to Reykjavik, so they dropped me off at the intersection of Reykabik and Keflavik airports. Then I got off and was going to walk, but it started to rain.

At that time, behind of us, Lucas was driving and he just happened to live nearby Keflavik Airport and drove me there.

Lucas was a Blue Lagoon employee who gave me a ride for the second time, and he said he brought two leftover sushi boxes at the end of the day, and he took one for me to eat.

After eating such delicious sushi, I fell asleep on a mat at the airport. I settled down next to the ATM. I thought about moving to another place because it could make others uncomfortable, but it was a cold winter in February, so I pushed ahead because there were few people at the airport. About 10 people... It wasn't until 5 or 6 in the morning that people started coming to the airport.

There was a reasons why I slept here.

  • It's next to the ATM, so there's an electric plug behind it!
