Balu River - A place where the city dwellers can have some time under the open sky with fresh air!
Our city is full of high rises. There's no such open space and it feels suffocating. I have shared this experience earlier, maybe several times.
So, I thought why don't I give it a try to visit the nearby riverside with my family?
I get to know about this place a few days ago. I wish I know about this wonderful place earlier. Though the river doesn't look very attractive because of the fog. And the water level is not also very high because of less rain this winter. But I enjoyed it a lot; the view, the fresh air, and the open space.
You can see the fog. It was 11° celsius that day, there was no sun. And the sky was pretty gloomy. I was actually looking for a boat ride. I heard that there usually many boats available on the river bank and people can hire them for a ride on the river.
I don't know why I couldn't find any boatman, though there were some empty boats. Maybe because of the cold gloomy weather no one was there.
This is one side of the river. You can see people are farming on the river space because the water level is very low. This process is very common here in Bangladesh.
This is another side of the river. This area used to be very rural. But nowadays it became an industrial area. Different garments manufacturing industry and other industries have their factory there.
One major thing really made me feel sad. You can see the sandy area, which is the property of different builders. They occupy this type of riverside area and build illegal high rises. Though the government usually take different legal initiatives to not let this happen. But those building cooperations are very powerful and they are occupying more natural areas day by day!
This was one of the major attractions for me. The area is full of trees and the path was really nice. The foggy weather gives it a good vibe to make it look like calm and peaceful.
There's an open-air type food court. So if you are planning to have a visit there for day long you can do that. The food court also has washroom facilities.
My overall experience was really nice. And I hope I will visit there again on a sunny day.
