Calling for Advice: We're Going to India!

January 2020 · 4 min read · Delhi

SCRREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE - I woke up this morning and remembered it was REAL. We've finally booked our flights to India. It's not easy being an air sign you know - indecisiveness rules our roost, but with my bestie around last night for advice and encouragement (she's been to India many, many times) we finally booked the first leg of the journey back to our other 'home' in the UK.

We're flying into Bangkok for 2 nights from Melbourne (sorry @artemislives - time, money and circumstances mean no visit to Chang Mai - maybe on the way back!) and then fly into Delhi on March 3rd. I've already told @steemflow we're coming so I hope we have a quick steem meet-up between the 'flows!! We then vaguely plan to go to Rishikesh, but that's it - no real definite plans for where, how, or even where to stay and what to do. I do love winging it and seeing what happens, but I thought I'd ask the Travelfeed community what their recommendations might be!

Lake Inle, Burma

I expect I'll be using the wonderful [Travelfeed.io](https://travelfeed.io/) quite often over the next 8 months. How on earth I'll travel AND steem is anyone's guess, but we all need downtime on the road, and there will be quite a bit of time in Somerset visiting family where I'm sure I'll be steeming in my room keeping you updated on what adventures we have been on.

I forgot how hard it can be to organise a trip - from insurance to visas, flights to hotels. I envy people who have tons of money that can ring a broker and say 'book me on a jet from here to there!'. For interests sake, I rang Flight Centre (yeah, yeah, I know - but to be honest, we haven't had a bad experience with them for simple journeys such as Melbourne to London) but they quoted us 14,000 AUD for MEL - BKK - DEL - LDN - Montreal - Cook Islands to Melbourne. Are you freaking kidding me? I did tell her dates were flexible - there's no way on this green Earth I'd pay that much for flights! So far for two of us we've managed to get ball park figures for a third of that price. I'm booking Delhi to London today.

Looking forward to being on the road with this guy again. Sapa, Vietnam.

The other cool thing is that our beekeeper (as strange as that sounds, but that's another long story) heard we were driving to Greece and turns out they have a villa on Meganisi, which we can stay at for free! How cool is that! It pays to chat to people - you never know who can help out!

Hence, reaching out to the Travelfeed community with our ever so vague travel plans and asking for suggestions. Who might live on our route we could call in for a Steem meet up? What fabulous places should we not miss? Where's a great place to stay or eat?

Practicing my 'can't cope with anyone trying to sell me more woven bracelets' face, Vietnam.

Our plans:

March - Delhi (Northern India)

April - UK (Somerset) - buy car.

May - June - Road trip down to Greece

Don't Forget: Get Travel Health Insurance!

July - Aug - UK (Somerset base)

Aug - Sep - Road trip via Spain & Portugal to Morocco (via @trucklife-family and @vincentnijman)

Sep - October - To be Decided. Hoping for a Canadian road trip but wary of spending a fortune on RV hire! A small cheap campervan would be ideal and if a Steemian has one we could rent that would be even better!

***Thanks in advance for any advice you beautiful people might come up with - it's all being written down in a notebook. ***
