Do you remember our last post when we started off from the sunny coast to the hike to Lagoa do Fogo? Well, unfortunately, that hike wasn’t such a sunny pleasure.
But first things first!
After the short swim in the sea, we drive to the starting point of the hike, near the village Ribeira Cha.
We start the tour in bright sunshine and congratulate ourselves on choosing such a great day for this hike.
The trail is beautiful; very soon, it leads along a small canal in the forest.
After a few kilometres, we leave the forest and are suddenly surrounded by small hills. Unfortunately, the weather has changed significantly in the meantime. The sun is no longer visible, and it looks a bit gloomy.
It gets a bit creepy a few minutes later when we arrive in the valley of seagulls. Gloomy clouds over us, a gaggle of seagulls around us, flying around cackling and moderately pleased about our visit. We walk briskly on and arrive at our destination about half an hour later.
Despite the bad weather we are impressed by the colours of the water and the forests. What a pity that we have such bad lighting!
After a short break in a strong wind, we make our way back and arrive at the car after a total of 11 kilometres and 3 hours. And above us - not any cloud! "Well wait, Lagoa do Fogo, we'll get a nice shot of you!" We think and drive a bit naïvely to a viewpoint on the EN5-2A.
As soon as we drive a few kilometres into the interior of the island, the clouds and the bad weather are back. Gritting our teeth, we get out of the car at the viewing platform and try our luck.
And indeed! We can just make these two shots before a dense mist steals us all the view.
Well, we are happy that we have, at least, some photos of the lake!

Der Kampf um ein schönes Bild – Wanderung zum Lagoa do Fogo
Erinnert ihr euch an unseren letzten Post, indem wir von der sonnigen Küste zur Wanderung zum Lagoa do Fogo aufbrechen wollen? Tja, so ein sonniges Vergnügen wurde das leider nicht.
Aber alles der Reihe nach!
Nach der kurzen Abkühlung im Meer fahren wir mit dem Mietwagen zum Startpunkt der Wanderung, in der Nähe des Ortes Ribeira Cha.
Bei strahlendem Sonnenschein starten wir die Tour und beglückwünschen uns, dass wir so einen tollen Tag für diese Wanderung ausgesucht haben.
Der Wanderweg ist wunderschön und gut beschildert. Sehr bald führt er an einem kleinen Wasserkanal im Wald entlang.
Nach einigen Kilometern verlassen wir den Wald und sind plötzlich von sanften Hügeln umgeben. Leider hat sich das Wetter in der Zwischenzeit erheblich verändert. Die Sonne ist nicht mehr zu sehen, und es wirkt etwas düster.
Etwas unheimlich wird es einige Minuten später, als wir in das Tal der Möwen gelangen. Düstere Wolken über uns, eine Schar von Möwen um uns herum, die gackernd umherfliegen und über unseren Besuch nur mäßig erfreut sind. Zügigen Schrittes wandern wir weiter und kommen ca. eine halbe Stunde später an unser Ziel.
Trotz des schlechten Wetters sind wir von den Farben des Wassers und der Wälder beeindruckt. Wie schade, dass wir so schlechte Lichtverhältnisse haben!
Nach einer kurzen Pause bei starkem Wind machen wir uns auf den Rückweg und kommen nach insgesamt 11 Kilometern und 3 Stunden wieder am Auto an. Und über uns – keine Wolke! „Na warte, Lagoa do Fogo, dich kriegen wir schon noch schön abgelichtet!“ denken wir uns und düsen etwas naiv los zu einem Aussichtspunkt an der EN5-2A.
Kaum fahren wir einige Kilometer ins Landesinnere sind die Wolken und das schlechte Wetter natürlich wieder da. Zähneknirschend steigen wir an der Aussichtsplattform aus und versuchen unser Glück.
Und tatsächlich! Wir können gerade noch diese zwei Aufnahmen machen, bevor uns eine dichte Nebelsuppe jegliche Aussicht raubt.
Naja, wenigstens konnten wir diesen wunderschönen See noch kurz ablichten!

La lutte pour avoir une belle photo - randonnée au Lagoa do Fogo
Vous souvenez-vous de notre dernier post lorsque nous sommes partis de la côte ensoleillée pour la randonnée vers Lagoa do Fogo? Malheureusement, cette randonnée n’était pas tellement ensoleillée.
Mais commençons au début!
Après une courte baignade dans la mer, nous nous dirigerons vers le point de départ de la randonnée, près du village Ribeira Cha.
Nous commençons la rando sous un soleil radieux et nous nous félicitons d’avoir choisi une si belle journée pour cette excursion.
Le sentier est magnifique; très bientôt, il longe un petit canal dans la forêt.
Après quelques kilomètres, nous quittons la forêt et sommes soudainement entourés de petites collines. Malheureusement, le temps a considérablement changé. Le soleil n'est plus visible et il fait un peu sombre.
Quelques minutes plus tard, nous arrivons dans la vallée des mouettes ce qui nous donne un peu des frissons. Des nuages sombres au-dessus de nous, une bande de mouettes autour de nous, volant au-dessus de nos têtes en braillant. Elles ne semblent pas très enchantées de de notre visite. Nous marchons un peu plus vite et arrivons à notre destination une demi-heure plus tard.

Malgré le mauvais temps, nous sommes impressionnés par les couleurs de l’eau et des forêts. Quel dommage que nous ayons un mauvais éclairage!
Après une courte pause, nous prenons le chemin de retour et arrivons à la voiture après 11 kilomètres et 3 heures de route.
Et au-dessus de nous – pas un seul nuage! "Bon, Lagoa do Fogo, finalement, on va avoir une belle photo de toi!" c’est ce que nous pensons et conduisons un peu naïvement au un point de vue sur la EN5-2A.
Dès que nous nous dirigeons dans l’arrière-pays, les nuages et le mauvais temps sont de retour. Serrant les dents, nous descendons de la voiture sur la plate-forme d'observation et tentons notre chance.
Et en effet! Nous pouvons faire ces deux belles photos avant qu’un brouillard épais nous vole toute la vue.
