Falcón is a state located in central western Venezuela, bathed by the waters of the Caribbean Sea. It has numerous places and tourist attractions, let's get to know some of them.
To the north of its capital, the city of Coro, the Paraguaná peninsula is located; it is joined to the mainland by an isthmus, comprised of Los Médanos de Coro National Park. This isthmus consists of sandy accumulations also known as dunes that exceed 8 meters above sea level and are moved by the action of trade winds blowing from east to west.
Walking the dunes represents a great attraction for visitors. The vegetation of the park is typical of the arid ecosystem; we can find cactus, prickly pears and pitayas. There are also blue tarantulas and anteaters, both endangered species.
Towards the northern part of the Peninsula there is the northernmost point of Venezuela known as Cape San Román, first sighted by Spanish settlers in 1499. The cape is a coral reef that consists of rocky inlets with strong waves. Its main attraction is its modern lighthouse.
Falcón state has numerous beaches, among which we can name Tucacas, in the immediate vicinity of Morrocoy National Park, countless cays and islets, the beaches of Chichiriviche, Playa Angosta and Adícora, where you can find a variety of inns and restaurants.
In the gastronomy of the Falcón state, we can find the popular goat with coconut and its unique milk sweets.
