Bluebonnets! So Sweet!

Bluebonnets! So Sweet!

April 2019 · 2 min read · Texas
Texas is all about Bluebonnets! That's the state flower and they are everywhere in the early spring. We came across a wonderful patch of them while we were on our way to Colorado Bend State Park near Bend, Texas. I have to say that Bluebonnets are most definitely my favorite wildflower.

But wait! That's not really what we wanted to show you!

This is my entry to this week's #googlyeye entry for the #googlyprize contest. I just had to put those sweet amazing googly eyes on the sign making us aware of possible water on the water crossing bridge. This bridge crossed the Cherokee Creek that feeds into the Colorado River.

Colorado Bend State Park is an amazing place to spend a few days. Here you will find very little in the way of amenities but it is perfect for those looking for a place to escape from the trappings of everyday life. There is electricity at the main office and the bathrooms, but that is about it. The place was DARK! You will find many wonderful trails and one that leads to Gorman Falls. This is the tallest waterfall in Texas at 70 feet. Just be ready for a rather rugged climb down to the bottom of the falls and a climb back up if you decide to not take the trail further along the Colorado River. The trail and the river are the only two ways to reach these falls. The trip is worth every step and during the summer the temps drop at the falls so it makes an amazing place to rest for the trip back!
