Last week, we went down to Caba, La Union from Baguio City to celebrate the birthday of our grandpa's brother's wife. It was like a mini reunion for our family.
One of our uncles rented this house which was located near the beach.
There was a lot of food here from Pancit, Fish, Lechon, Lumpia, Crabs, Shrimp, Green Mango, Salads, Vegetable and Fruits. This was actually a feast!
This was my very first time to encounter banana stalks being used for their plates. My cousin said they call it "obwak". He said that this was the traditional way of eating in our province.
I ended up eating in a plate because my mom told us that if we use the obwak, there's a chance the we can stain our clothes that we were using due to the sap.
After eating, I found some time to take photos of some of the things inside the house that they rented.
These mother and child artworks just looked amazing.
My mom was bugging me to take a photo of this mirror because she said that this mirror was antique because of the designs of it. My younger brother was trying to take photos of it and he was waiting for something to appear on it.
We wanted to explore so so me, my brother and cousins decided to go to the beach. Upon going out, I saw that they were drying out the banana stalks under the sun.
This was the photo of the house that they rented.
Upon going out there were a lot of beach plants in the ground and a tree. There was even a volley ball net but that's the resort beside the house.
One thing that I noticed about this beach was that it was dirty, as you can see the scraps around the sand.
One thing that surprised me that there was a cow in the beach. Something you won't see often.
When I looked at it, I felt so bad for it because it looks malnourished, you can actually see it ribs popping out.
This was my very first time to go near a cow, I was just taking photos of it and I was able to pet it. When I was able to pet it in the head, I was expecting it to be soft but it wasn't
As you look the the back she had a calf but when we tried going to it, it was scared of us and it would go the other way. That person using the maroon shirt was my cousin. He decided to do something......
He actually put his socks on the cows horn
Ever seen a cow wear socks? Here are photos for you.
After a while I noticed that the calf when to it and I took some photos of them so they have a family portrait.
That's my younger cousin and you can see her frolicking in the beach.
My cousin brought his girlfriend with him.
We got to have a chance to play tic tac toe with my brother and I actually won because he was careless.
When you walk along the beach you're going to encounter all these huge boulders, I don't why they put them there
I just concluded that they put that there so if ever a drunk person tries to go to another resort they would have a difficult time traversing these huge boulders.
Just looking at the beach is a very relaxing feeling for me.
Though I noticed that the beach here at Caba wasn't that clear. It looked dirty.
You could see how far these boulders would go,
After that we decided to go back to the house.
This was my only chance to take a photo of the Lechon Head, I was actually shy to take photos before eating. You can see how crispy was the skin.
Fortunately my grandpa was able to go even though he had to travel. You can actually see his bottle of beer with him.
My cousins decided to go to another beach, before leaving I took a photo of this cactus that somebody vandalized.
We traveled 21.5 km from Caba to Acapulco Beach cottages at San Fernando La union. This resort was actually beside a very expensive resort called Aureo.
My cousin rented a cottage for us. I think that the rate of renting one for the whole day was 500 Php or 9.74 United States Dollar.
One fun thing that they had in this cottage was the pump, it was actually fun to pull it up and down to get water. Here are some problems that I noticed about this cottage. It didn't have a toilet in it, you actually dont have a secure place to store you belongings because there's actually no gate at the back of this, if there's a person who has bad motives, he can actually just walk in your cottage and steal your valuables.
I didn't think of that situation too much, because I was actually having fun here.
The beach looked a lot more cleaner than the other one and what I loved about this beach was that, there wasn't that much stones in the floor of the beach and walking at it felt like heaven. There was actually a part of the beach where your feet would sink in because the sand was so soft.
The last time my cousin went here, he said that there were no waves that time, but when we got there the average waves were from 3- 6 feet. I've never had this much fun after a long time. We actually lost our headbands with my brother because of the strength of the waves. One sad thing that happened that it washed out in the shore and it took it back in. I think it just wanted to say good bye to me haha.
We stayed there for about 3 hours just swimming, fighting the waves, making some sand castles and watching some of the kids flip.
It was so amusing to watch these kids play, it's like a school of gymnastics.
We were here until the sunset. One thing for sure was that I actually had so much fun here, It just reminded me of my childhood.
