The Philippines Exotic fruits

How are you all? Long time no hear and I miss steemit and everyone here.

After almost 2 months of vacation in my homeland, Philippines and more than a month break from steemit, now I'm so happy to be back… So please join me with lots of exotic fruits and more!

We live in a province called Pangasinan. It is called the salt capital of the Philippines. Derived from the word Asin means salt. It is 6 hours away from Manila by land. One of the primary products of the province is from natural resources, sea and land.

What I love most in my place is the comforting fresh breeze, calm lifestyle and lots of delicious fresh abundance.

Cotton fruits

Actually, Have you encounter this fruit? We called this cotton fruit or Santol in our language (Tagalog). Shape is round, with the seeds resembles like cotton. The white flesh from seeds are sour to sweet. Seeds are not edible though.

Cotton fruit is a common fruit in asia. You can almost see it anywhere in the Philippines, It is planted or sometimes cultivated. It has many uses including cooking and as a natural medicine.

Benefits and Uses of Cotton fruit

  1. It is used in cooking to flavor soups and dishes

  2. Barks, when boiled are a natural medicine to treat illnesses such as high fever and diarrhea.

  3. Pounded Raw leaves are a natural topical remedy for insects

Papaya

Papaya is another common fruit in Asia, it has several varieties, and this one is an absolute treat.

Like any other fruit, Papaya has its own fair share of medicinal and nutritional properties. It’s very orange flesh is a refreshing snack and a sure dessert treat.

And this Holy moly giant Jackfruit weighs 12 kilos! Yes, you heard it right. It was a present for @mr.neil. Huge and massive! actually, at first, we don’t know what to do because there were plenty of it. So we share half of the whole flesh to our neighbors.

Jackfruit is also very sweet, though it takes time to remove the flesh from the whole fruit. It will be totally worth it when you taste it. It’s seeds are edible, eat it boiled or roasted, toss it to salad to have a unique flavor.

Salamander/currant fruit

And look at all these beauties….. Salamander or Currant tree. When my friends give me present, they give abundantly like one sack of organic salamander/currant fruit. Again, I'm not sure what to do with one sack of currant fruits unless i know how to make wine from it. Soo plenty, that I think I can feed our whole street with this fruit.

There is lots of fond memories of this fruit. We used to climb currant trees when we were children. We are after to that sweet color black kernels, be wary though, it’s extremely sour when it is not fully ripe. Green means unripe, Red for semi ripe while color black is the ripe one and the sweetest.
