Mazara del Vallo really hit me in the heart

May 2022 · 2 min read · Mazara del Vallo

Another stop on my tour in Sicily just yesterday introduced me to this beautiful town in the province of Trapani which is called Mazara del Vallo.

And in the end I will explain to you why I liked it so much and I will surely have a good memory of this place to always carry with me.

Surely what struck me was the cathedral of San Salvatore which I understood was built on the rubble of an ancient Saracen church, but more than anything else the beautiful thing is the domes which are covered with colored majolica.

Naturally this place, being in a very important position in the Mediterranean, has always been half of conquests but also has been a point of cultural and commercial exchanges with its port.

in fact even today a very multiethnic part of the city with a large presence of Tunisian communities has practically created their cultural centers as well as their typical shops.

The city of Mazara del Vallo was born at the mouth of the mazaro river that right through the city and at the port you can see the very rich fleet of fishing boats that makes this place very famous for the talk of fishing and for the famous Gambero Rosso di Mazara famous I think in almost all over the world.

What I liked about this city is that it made me fall in love and the fact that there is precisely this exchange of cultures that makes it possible to find arts of any kind in this small city, but also at the culinary level you can enjoy food. from anywhere in the world.

What I like is that there is a lot of integration between people, there is the possibility of finding Christian churches but also flies where they go to pray and Muslims and this makes it clear that the mix of cultures does very well in this situation.

Thank you for reading my article so far, I hope the photos have been to your liking
