Yesterday tour in Bologna!!! a beautiful city!!!

May 2022 · 2 min read · Italy

Hello friends! Just yesterday I accompanied a group of elderly people to discover the beautiful Bologna, probably one of the most beautiful cities in Italy, which is, however, very neglected in terms of tourism.

Yesterday's was a fairly quick tour of the city we started from Piazza Maggiore which let's say is the fulcrum of Bologna where there is the beautiful statue of Neptune has always been one of the most important venues in the history of Bologna for civil but also religious and political matters.

I must say that I didn't expect to find it so crowded with tourists and this made me very happy, but in the end we headed for the Basilica di San Petronio, one of the most important churches for the Bolognese and the fifth largest in the world, dedicated to the patron saint of the city of Bologna, as we can see from the façade, the basilica begun in 1390 was never completed.

Since we were in the area In that Bologna's speciality is mortadella, we went to a place to have sandwiches made with this delicious typical sausage.

Since the tour lasted only a few hours and we did not have time to visit the Asinelli towers, we headed for the Santo Stefano complex also called the Seven Churches of Bologna

We started our tour of the Church of the Crucifix, which was built around the 7th century, as the photo shows, and preserves a beautiful crucifix from the 1300s.

the most beautiful part of this complex for my part because I had already been here some time ago is the basilica of the Holy Sepulchre, which is practically the oldest church and is built on a temple that, as you can see from the photo, still has its ancient Roman columns.
