At the beginning of November I was in Brooklyn for a work conference. While looking for places to stay in that area I found an Airbnb near the Brooklyn Botanic Garden.
Gardens are one of my happy places!
It was so fun to walk around the garden and see stunning views and the tiny details.
My main goal for going to the Vatican was to see the Sistine Ceiling. I am a huge fan of Michelangelo and wanted to see the ceiling in person. Little did I know that just about every hall (which there are many) has immaculately covered ceilings.
The ceiling in the Hall of Maps is one of the best!
The biggest and best surprise for me in Rome was the Vatican Museum. I had been to Rome once before. I didn't get to see the Sistine Ceiling and didn't realize that the room it was in was part of the Vatican Museum. I have favorite museums, the National Gallery of Art in DC, The MET in New York City
A lot of our time in Rome was filled with seeing and photographing beautiful buildings. I loved it! @jarvie is so great at taking pictures of buildings...he did go on the road for 15 months photographing religious buildings in all 50 states for his Faith in America project.

This summer I had some wonderful travels abroad to Italy, England, Scotland and Kenya. I don't usually travel abroad. It is much more likely for me to travel in the states and visit friends and family.

It was built more than 2,500 years ago by the Etruscans (the modern name given to a civilization of ancient Italy in the area corresponding roughly to Tuscany) 1.

Our Sibling Trip was off to a great start. After spending the afternoon in Venice we drove Florence, Italy.
I had been to Florence in college as part of tour of Europe and I was so very excited to get back to this amazing city.
What are the 4 words I would use to describe my time in Florence?
For our Sibling Trip my brother @jarvie, sister Kristen and I went to Italy, England and Scotland.
We started the trip in Venice, Italy! See my recent post Share My World: Venice: Part 1 for the day we spent together. This is a special extended post on Piazza San Marco or St. Mark's Square.
I am excited to start a new set of posts about the sibling trip I went on this past May with my sister, Kristen and brother, Scott or @jarvie. The posts will cover our adventures in Italy, England and Scotland.

It was a warm (about 77 F and 25 C) night in June as our group of about 25 of us sat around the fire for the nightly ritual of the Maasai in which they share experiences from the day, jokes, stories and plans for the next day. Each night, time is given to someone to share, if they would like. In my
