Urban Exploration - The Latvian Consolute

January 2019 · 4 min read · England

We are Urban Explorers, we are not vandals. We take nothing besides photographs and leave nothing but footprints.

I wasn’t exactly sure if the Latvian Consulate still existed as it was burnt quite badly in 2015 and there have been less reports of it since this event.

As we were in the area after doing the Camelot Theme Park, myself, @mender1 and a third person attempted to find a way in.

This one is not straightforward and I will decline to say how we did it, suffice to say there are TWO levels of security and we only breached the outer layer.

To get in properly would have meant some tricky balancing and possibly impalement, a condition I would rather avoid.

I did manage to damage my jacket while entering, but this is why I wear my worst clothes. You have to expect this to happen sometimes.

The consulate has also been called Pemberton House Farm, though it doesn’t look much like a farm to me. There has been considerable damage to the building, and the roof has more or less collapsed making the upper areas a no go.

I would think this place was quite swanky once. The design is modern; it did contain a private swimming pool and looks like it was a nice property.

The barn was much more interesting as it seems there has been a maniacal firearm freak in there at some point.

The amount of spent shells and cartridges was quite staggering. How can you possibly fire so many cartridge rounds?

IMG_5827.jpg

We found some other personal items in the barn in the form of kid’s soft toys, aka ‘Tigger’ and this video. The VHS cartridge was still inside but probably not usable now.

IMG_5829.jpg

There were signs of vandalism in the barn, with graffiti and lots of authoring of names on one wall.

IMG_5830.jpg

We almost gave up on this one, as it seemed very well protected. The large metal fence completely surrounds the main property and they must have spent a bit of cash on getting it this secure.

IMG_5837.jpg

The spiky tops were a deterrent for sure!

Some excavations have taken place but it appears they ran out of money, as it looks like a half baked effort.

This is my first ever dTube so I’m still getting to grips with how it all works, formatting the clips and adding titles so please bear with me if my first few are a bit crap. I don’t even know if it will play as dTube seems to only like certain formats.

In the event that it doesn’t, then I apologise. I may need to ask around on how it all works.

I will continue to add stories and photographs as well as a vlog but not all my Urban Explorations will include videos.

The Latvian Consulate is a decent explore and worth the visit if only for the barn, the shells and weirdness of the place.
