Two days in the huge reservoir of Tanguar Howr.

Trip to Tanguare Haor..

Wanted to go to Tanguare Haor since long time but didn't go with group. Because everyone knows to go to Haor you have to hire a trawler which is very costly. For that you have to go in group. There are many tour groups who arrange tours but with people I don't know. Doesn't want to go anywhere. A little introvert type.

On the 30th of last month, me and my roommate traveled together, Howar in Tangua. My roommate planned to go alone, then I joined him. When everyone went to Howar via Sunamganj, we planned to go to Howar via Mohanganj in Netrakona. Also on Sylhet Road. Sunamganj's connection with Dhaka was closed that day because the bridge was broken. Bad roads are also a reason for taking a different route.

The day before, I booked the 30th hour express ticket online at 11:50 pm. After printing the ticket, I had dinner at home and started the journey towards Kamalapur railway station. The train left on time. The train reached Mohanganj at 6:30 in the morning. After having breakfast, I went to Madhyanagar by bike. At Bazar Launch Ghat. From there at 8:30 in the morning the speedboat leaves for Tahirpur every 30 minutes. We went down there and went around the local market and hired a boat for 1500 taka. Usually trawlers don't go for such low taka. 2500-3000 taka is not reduced. There were two of us, so I was able to convince them.

And since that route is not known to many people, we were able to reduce as the gathering was less. He drove us all day from morning till evening.

At first we entered Haor after walking through small river. The huge waves of Haor! Haor gets new youth in monsoon. Haor can be compared with the vastness of the sea.

After leaving at 9 o'clock, we reached the heart of Tanguar Haor watch tower at 12:30. After an hour's jumping and dinghy, we left for Tekerghat.

We ordered white rice with fish, desi chicken, and Boal fish for 3 of us including Majhi. Around 2:30 we reached Tekerghat.

After having lunch there, we saw Jadukata river, Barikka Tila, Shimul garden (seeing from a distance because there are no flowers in the garden now), we returned to Tekerghat again. Meanwhile, the boatman was resting on the boat.

Around 4 pm we left for Madhyanagar by boat. Just in the evening we reached Madhyanagar market. After having tea there, I sat on the bank of the river for a while and enjoyed the breeze of Haor.

To be honest, the evening breeze of Haor was one of the best moments of my life.

Moments like this rarely come in life. Mind blowing. Saying goodbye to the boatman, we left for Mohanganj by bike. It was as if we were going through a sea of wind. It was a different feeling. When we were going to enjoy the night air on the deserted road, the rows of jute sticks standing on the side of the road were giving us a royal welcome and jute sticks. The fresh smell of ash was spreading a kind of frenzy.

We back by Mohanganj Express (11:50) at night. There is no AC ticket for two people online during the time of Barikka Tila and paid through Bikash. We had a little trouble due to back to Dhaka that day. Everyone will try to go to AC (soft) even if they pay a little more. Because the non-AC bite will make your journey a mess of beggars and hawkers all night long.

Finally it was a budget tour. 5-10-15-20 people can go because going from Mohanganj to Madhyanagar Bazar by CNG requires 5 people. Can't go without reserve. And if people are less then 2, 4, 6 people will go accordingly. Because even if you go alone on a bike, you have to pay for two people.

Our expenses:

  1. Dhaka - Mohanganj - 220 * 2 = 440 taka (excluding online charge 40)

  2. Breakfast on the train - 100 taka

  3. Breakfast-65 taka

  4. Mohanganj to Madhyanagar bike rent-220 taka

  10. Return train fare--900 taka

The total will be within 2500 tk. If you want to stay one day, you can stay at Tekerghat hotel. Or if there are more people, you can rent a boat for the night and stay in Howar. Rent accordingly.

Our landlord is a very good person. Niranjan Da. If anyone wants to go on a one-day tour, you can contact the grandfather.. If you tell me my name, he will keep it low. But it is not right to expect to go for 1500 taka. Because we He agreed to reduce so much because there were two of them. If there are more people, I think it will take 2500-3000. Talk to him about the rent before you go. And if you need a big boat, he can arrange it if you tell him.

Finally, take care of the environment. Don't throw plastic waste anywhere. Save water and natural resources.
