Welcome to the Oldest City in India - Varanasi at Night

October 2019 · 3 min read · Varanasi

One of the oldest and the most loved City , a favourite destination for many traveller to explore the culture, religion and tradition of India. Varanasi (earlier called Benaras) considered as Spiritual city of India.

Even though I live India, but it took me many years to take my first visit to the city. And rightly referred by all this is the best place to take a trip. I just returned from a short trip and wanted to go back there forever.

*Old city, busy streets, old building, Ganga river, Baba Vishwanath, and many more to enjoy. The more time you spent, the more you want to stay at Varanasi.

Varanasi is a city in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh dating to the 11th century B.C. Regarded as the spiritual capital of India, the city draws Hindu pilgrims who bathe in the Ganges River’s sacred waters and perform funeral rites. Along the city's winding streets are some 2,000 temples, including Kashi Vishwanath, the “Golden Temple,” dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva.

Land of sages, sadhus and Aghori Varanasi is must visit place for all. I have made a short two days trip to capture many moments. However, due to high water level at Ganga river, we could not attend the famous Ganga Arati but do make each second count on the "Street of Varanasi"

I already seen many post about Varanasi and it basically contains some photography centered on certain specific individual or things. I too have many such things to share. But before I proceed to take a trip to each corner of Varanasi, let me take you to the city tour at night.

The common sighting, to have temples at any corner of road.

It was rainy night to find every road and street water logged

This is me before leaving the holy city at night, outside the Varanasi railway station, which is illuminated with bulbs.

And this is the railway station.

Varanasi is a great combination of old architecture and some modern building. One can explore the modern shops, branded showroom, malls and also some old shops, old schools, street foods and many more.

It was a pleasant and very interesting blissful tour of two days where I get to explore many things. Also the street foods were quite amazing especially glass full of milk in earthen pots filled with cream and Rabri.

This is just a teaser for a wonderful trip down the spiritual city of Varanasi . There is more coming sooner and hope I will bring some more unknown areas of the city.
