Keeping things on the down side (The Blind Pig)

None of the three little pigs were blind, they just built great houses. They probably had a cousin, who might have had great taste in whiskey, as there is a blind pig located in Hannamdeong Seoul, Korea where the environment c'est magnifique et hip!

Speakeasy bars are always a fun exploration for new restaurants and bars, as their appearances are always the total opposite from the inside, and it's always a mystery as to where the door is located. Today's speakeasy whiskey bar was also a surprise for us as we headed into a narrow alleyway just large enough for one person at a time to walk through.

No sign or lights show traces of any sort of business in the alley, but fear not as you are greeted with the tiniest doors on a wall to the left, with a sign hanging over head with a picture of a pig with an eye patch and a cane. The pig must have been a gentlemen of sorts.

As you bend over to head down the steps, you expect an empty room filled with nothing but cleaning supplies, but on the contrary a huge dimly lit room spans out in front of you, with a bar lined up with whiskey from all ages and country.

People sit by the bar slowly sipping their worries away as they await for the weekend to start, while some sit on tables large enough to accomodate 15 people chattering about their time wasted being with an ex boyfriend.

At the bling pig, without any windows to tell time, the night is young and people drift deep into their conversations. To start things, we ordered a 12 year Balvenie. From experience you can never go wrong with a bottle of Balvenie because the taste is just right on any occasion.

At the blind pig, whiskey glasses are filled with the most square ice cube you will ever encounter. How they manages to create the flatness of each side of the cube is a question, but they're surely not taking the rounded ice route.

With your drinks, you are served green olives which aren't the ones you generally find in the super market. These seem to be coming from a different source as they aren't too salty, and the skins are greener than those marinated ones on a pizza. Also given are some creamy chocolate to be paired with the warming and complex taste of whiskey.

We left without a single drop left behind. By the time we finished this bottle, the night was still young to end, and so we headed off for some hangover Korean soup across the street.
