For our honeymoon, we had to go somewhere and do something special, out of the ordinary, that can only happen once in a lifetime. The destination was a no-brainer, both of us wanted to enjoy pasta dishes on the fronts of the Coliseum, walk up the neighborhood trails on the beautiful island of Capri, enter the Blue Grotto to see the most amazing spectacle from inside the cave, and enjoy the raved about beaches in Sardinia, and so we trotted off to Italy.
As a carb-loving couple, we had an agenda to try as much pasta dishes we could while in Italy, the place where this wonderful creation was born.
Stepping into Sardinia was like going into a long awaited bath after an exhausting day. We were planning to rest our tired selves from the wedding, so we selected a half board vacation in Pullman Timi Ama at Villasimius Sardinia.
Despite the variety of all you can eat buffet during the half board dinner, we decided to try out the restaurant next to the beach "I Ginepri." Overlooking the blue beach, and the clear sky, our date was heavenly at best.
Our first order was to taste local beer Ichnusa, brewed near the Sardinian capital Cagliari.
Being on an island, seafood was our primary choice of splurge, and so we asked for their recommendation. The Maitre d' brought out two huge lobsters for us to choose, one a local Sardinian lobster, the other an import, but both fresh and alive.
Our choice? The big spiny one on the right, the ARAGOSTA lobster.
We patiently waited as they halved our lobster and cooked it in two different menus. One half being a Spaghetthi alla Aragosta, and the other half becoming a grill paired with vegetables.
Pasta, pasta, pasta
Voila, masterpiece lobster pasta, the best tasted to date. My husband still raves on about how good it was and how unforgettable this dish has been. We've been to other Italian restaurants, and ended up disappointed as they served frozen lobster without the smell of the sea alive.
My portion on a platter. Fresh tomatoes, basil, and lobster intertwined can create an experience out of this world.
Our grilled lobster is served with locally grown tomatoes grilled, and vegetables sautéed on the side. Still waters my mouth seeing these photos again.
We both took seconds on our lobster pasta, and cleared up the plate leaving no tomato behind.
No waste was created during the making of this meal.
