No, no bears are available at Bear Cafe in Seoul, Korea. But a good cup of coffee and a traditional house renovated into a modern 'Kinfolk' inspired setting is one for the eyes to binge on. Located near the Gyungbokgung Royal Palace, where the royalty used to live, the surrounding houses have been kept in its original traditional form for the longest time. Along with the gentrification of many of these areas, the old traditional Hanok houses transformed and took a cleaner, much more modern look, bringing in younger demographics to the area.
The Bear Cafe
The doorway to Bear Cafe is wide open to the public. The ivory white walls and archway attract attention as they stand out from other houses on the street.

Seoul Insider's Guide
The skeleton of the house is still very much a wooden base of a Hanok architecture with tiled roofs, and paper covering the window frames.
To weather through the hot summers and cold winters, a glass wall is set to keep the cool airconditioning and heating in the Hanok. Even with these modern additions to make life convenient, the environment friendly nature of the building itself.
The interior inside is kept clean with white furnitures, white plates and cups and Kinfolk magazines neatly placed to decorate and break the silent white table top.
Cup of coffee?
In Fall, the amazing weather brings people together. No reasons, no objectives are necessary to gather the crowd as the leaves fall leaving the tree cold during the cold winter nights. In Bear Cafe, the crowd gather in its small yet cozy courtyard.
And so we joined the rest with cups of cold latte and americanos to quench the autumn thirst. A cool and contemporary place to stop by for a quick cup of coffee or a laid back chat with your friends.
