July 2018 · 2 min read

As promised in a previous part I will be making few separate posts about street art and dwarfs and some intersting stuff about wroclaw. I was kinda disappointed that I didn't find Gimli but still some great stuff was there.

How did the city end up with so many dwarfs statues?
(People of Wroclaw and Poland forgive my ignorance - these are just thing I heard/read about sometimes-somewhere, so correct me if I am wrong.)
Apparantly in the 80's when communism was still utopian regime. Anti-communist group of wroclaw (Orange Alternative) proclaimed the dwarf as their symbol. Since then graffitis were drawn with pollitical slogan, transparent and all the "rebellion" stuff included a dwarf.

In 2001, first dwarf was placed in the main street of Wroclaw - Papa dwarf to commemorate the movement. No drama about it. Then in 2005 artist Tomasz Moczek designed 5 more dwarfs, and many more followed.

This is blockchain, I will now demonstrate....

What is interesting about it... Wroclaw and people from Wroclaw are all about these dwarfs - like they are here from prehistoric period. Gimli and his brothers designed and made them. even tho the project is about 13 years old.
