TacoCat’s Travels #52 (Paris): Mall-Crawl Shenanigans!

April 2020 · 5 min read · Ile-de-France

Hey Steemit!

So if you didn't catch the last few posts, this series is about our trip to Paris way back in June 2016 when we went there for summer school! Both of us enrolled in a Luxury Management course at a college called HEC Paris. The course itself was 2 weeks long, but we booked our flight a week earlier so we could travel and explore the city.

In the last post, we went a little ways out of our little suburban town and found our way to 2 historical monuments in Paris - Canal Saint-Martin and Porte Saint-Denis!

12 June 2016. Sunday.

It was our last day before the start of our summer school class! We didn't really have plans today, and weren't up to traveling too far off from our place, so we decided to head back to the huge mall connected to La Vallée Village since we only got to explore a little bit of last time.

But first, lunch time!

I was craving a burger, and we found this small fast food place and decided to give it a shot! We ordered a box of fried chicken and a burger set to share and it was sooo good! The chicken was crispy and juicy, and the burger was really tasty with the chicken and cheese. The fries were also crispy and sufficiently salty too! Yummy! 😋

After that scrumptious meal to start the day, we took the train a few stations down to our destination.

And I guess I didn't actually buy the dress last time, because I tried on a different patterned one, but ultimately bought the same one I wanted.

I find that I actually do this a lot especially when I travel - coming across something that I want to buy but ultimately not buying it then regretting that I didn't buy it and have to go back to get it. I mean, it's good impulse control at least, but it's very time-consuming to have to go back to the exact same place to buy something, and it doesn't always work out. So I guess I should just give in to my impulse and buy things when I travel from now on.?

Well, anyway, it gave us an opportunity to explore the mall some more this time so it wasn't too bad.

We actually found that the mall had an aquarium! We were hesitant to check it out; you know, because of all the controversy behind aquariums (although it wasn't as publicized back in 2016 I don't think), so we decided to take a walk around the mall and come back around to it.

We found this store called La Chaise Longue that sold all sorts of cool novelty knick knacks and went in to take a look. Get ready for some silly photos!

I actually took a similar photo with fake beer when I was in the UK with my family in 2015! 😅

But anyway, the shop had all sorts of cool stuff; like these 3D paper crafts:

And huuuge playing cards! How would you even shuffle cards this big?!

It was one of those stores that had all these cool stuff to see, but not actually buy since you wouldn't know what to do with them in your house. But it was still really neat though!

I mean they also had cool hats! That's something!

After we were done goofing around, we decided to check out another store. We found this pretty big department store selling all sorts of toys and merch and went in to take a look.

They had shirts and stuff from famous series like Star Wars, Marvel and DC.

And I got to take a picture with Batman! Well, a plastic (smiling) version of him anyway.

The store also had these weird Eiffel Tower plush toys that were kinda strange.

But they also had Mario plushies! Man, even France gets them and Singapore has nothing. 😔

They even had the Mario items with sound boxes in them! The plushies would make the in-game noises when you squeeze them!

I mean you can't go to Paris without taking a photo with an Eiffel Tower plush and a croissant plush right.?

After a few more goofy photos, we went to this clothing store called KIABI where they sold all sorts of clothing items for pretty cheap prices! I bought a pajama set and I urged Sean to get this cool-looking Batman shirt and he did!

After mall-crawling for a couple hours, we had to head back to pack up. We also needed to get up early the next day to check out and head to our college campus so it was a big day! More on that next time!
