Frankly speaking, when I first came to Vientiane, it was hard to believe that it was a capital. Everything looked so poor:(
We were on the way to the embassy. I was looking at the window, thinking when we would finally enter the city. I was expecting to see something else. But it appeared we had already been in the city centre.
During my first few visits I walked around taking pictures of streets, people, the famous arch, the Patuxai monument which reminds my beloved France 😍
Moreover, wherever you go you always see some "rues" 😉
I was amazed by the beauty of Buddhist temples. Frankly, I still am:) I think both in Thailand and in Laos they are gorgeous.
Of course if you are in Vientiane, you should definitely take a walk along the riverside, to see the Presidential Palace
and the monument of the King Chao Anouvong
The statue is situated in a beautiful park which was built in 2010 to honor the King.

At night this park turns into a night Market. By the way, it is one of the Vientiane sightseeing as well😉
One more place to visit is the That Dam or "black stupa". It's the most important Vientiane's historical landmark.
There is also a historical museum in the city which is worth visiting. But be prepared to share a tear there. All the exhibitions are dedicated to the war. I have dozens of pictures. It deserves to be a separate post.

That is my list of sightseeing in Vientiane.
What do you like visiting in this city? I also heard about the Buddha Park. But I've never been there yet. Have you?
