Actually if people want to go Porto from Lisbon, they would take flight or train to go there. But I would like to go Porto by bus since there is a historic town on the way of the ride, that is Coimbra.
The history of Coimbra could trace back to Roman Era, which was the capital of Portugal (from 1131 to 1255). Then Coimbra began to evolve into a major cultural centre in middle age. One of the achievement is the establishment the University of Coimbra in 1290, the oldest academic institution in the Portuguese-speaking world. As a result, its historical buildings were classified as a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 2013.
The whole city is built up in the hill. So you need to climb up the hill for visiting...
Then I visited the the University of Coimbra. It was established in 1290 in Lisbon, then it passed through lots of relocations until it was moved permanently to Coimbra in 1537, being one of the oldest universities in continuous operation in the world, the oldest university of Portugal, and one of the country's largest higher education and research institutions.
And you can climb up the tower to enjoy the elevated view of the city:)
That’s end of my day 7 trip. In the next day, I took a bus Porto in the next day. Thank you for watching:)
