Smoke wild boar or known as SINALAU BAKAS is one of my favorite food. I love to eat pork , but among all of pork meat i always prefer the wild boar meat . It not easy to get boar meat because local has to go to wild jungle and if they lucky enough they ll get them. If not , they ll just come home empty . Not to mention to enter the wild , they might need to stay days in the jungle and even they get one , its not easy to bring the meat home.

There is only a few place in our area that sold those food. The nearest is by side the road on the way to RANAU town around 1 hours drive from my place. Even we go there , those place always full and end up we take away the food. But , the best way to eat it is to let them smoke it until it cook and eat there.

The journey for the food hunt is start early in morning after the morning peak hour finish which is around 9 am . There is a lot of construction road make the drive much longer .

These place is just like regular sideway stall which you can see a huge sign board near those stall , SINALAU BAKAS. Even you cant see the sign , you always can smell the food when driving near that location.

And there will be reminder that stall is for non-muslim only.

You can ask the stall owner which one is the best . They can recommend you best meat for you. After you choose the best part , they will weight it . It was around RM 7.50 or USD 1.70 /gram.

They smoke it until it just nice to be serve. It might take around 30-45 minutes depends on that part because they will smoke it slowly until it completely cooks.
